Dora the Explorer Movie Cast - Michael Peña

Even though the Dora the Explorer movie feels like some kind of straight-to-television production based on the first look we’ve seen, the Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon project has certainly rounded up a decent supporting cast.

Isabela Moner is playing the titular character from the educational animated program that played all over Nickelodeon every morning for years. Recently, Eva Longoria was lined up to play Dora’s mother Elena, and now Ant-Man franchise scene stealer Michael Peña has landed the role of her father. Read More »

The live-action Dora the Explorer movie, which remains a real thing that is actually happening, just added a new cast member. Eva Longoria will play Dora’s mother, Mrs. The Explorer (although technically speaking her character’s name is Elena).

dora the explorer first look

Remember the Dora the Explorer movie starring Isabela Moner as the grown-up bilingual kid explorer? It’s still happening. And we even have a first look at Moner with the classic bob cut and clad in the iconic pink shirt and orange shorts. Dora the Explorer live-action movie

Remember in 2012, when College Humor released a parody trailer for a Dora the Explorer live-action movie and we all had a good laugh about how ridiculous that idea was? Well, we’re not saying Paramount gets its ideas from College Humor parody trailers, but we’re not not saying that either. The studio has put into development a real Dora the Explorer live-action movie, with Puss in Boots scribe Tom Wheeler set to write.

While you let that sink in, Wheeler has also been set to pen the next draft of Paramount’s Micronauts, another live-action feature based on a kiddie property — in this case, a Hasbro toy line. More on the Micronauts and Dora the Explorer live-action movie projects after the jump.  Read More »
