We’re coming down to the end of 2016, and even though we’ve been starting to look forward to the movies of 2017 since as early as this past summer, it’s about time we started to look back at the good stuff this year had to offer. October is the prime month for horror movies, and this year we’ll be getting terror on a number of different levels thanks to Tyler Perry. The writer, director, producer and actor is getting back in drag for Boo! A Madea Halloween, a horror comedy that puts the sassy old woman in the middle of some horror movie shenanigans.
This time Madea is commissioned by a family friend (also played by Tyler Perry) to keep an eye on the house and his daughter while he goes out of town to make sure she doesn’t go to a huge Halloween party happening nearby. But in addition to keeping an eye on this young girl, Madea also has to contend with creepy clowns, zombies and apparently even Jigsaw from the Saw franchise. This past spring, the bonkers teaser trailer debuted for Tyler Perry‘s return as the goofy old woman Madea. This time, we get another holiday themed outing in the form of Tyler Perry’s Boo! A Madea Halloween. The teaser trailer had Madea armed to the teeth and preparing to defend her house against some impending All Hallow’s Eve threats.
Believe it or not, the film that owes its inception to a joke from Chris Rock’s fantastic Top Five is still coming to theaters this Halloween, and now a teaser poster parodies one of the most iconic horror flicks that is played over and over again throughout the month of October. If you didn’t go out of your way to watch Chris Rock’s 2014 comedy Top Five, you’re missing out on the comedian’s own Annie Hall, an outstanding romantic comedy that isn’t chock full of cliché and actually delivers some pretty potent laughs. And if you haven’t seen that movie, that means you missed the joke which names Boo! A Madea Halloween as a fake sequel Tyler Perry made for his old woman alter ego.
