An Expendables 4 was scheduled to close out the series next year, but it might have to move forward without its star, Sylvester Stallone. The actor, who directed the first film in the series, has left the franchise over creative differences. Stallone may have been offered more than $20 million to play Barney Ross again – his upfront biggest paycheck to date – but disagreements with Nu Image/Millennium chief Avi Lerner led to his departure.

Long before there was talk of a lady-centric Ghostbusters reboot or Spider-Man spinoff, Sylvester Stallone was plotting his distaff take on The Expendables. And while no cast members have officially been announced for The Expendabelles as of yet, Stallone does have his eye on one particularly famous female badass.

You’d think The Expendables producer Avi Lerner might look to certain names for his “all-female Expendables” offshoot film, which for now he’s calling The ExpendaBelles. Sigourney Weaver, maybe, or Linda Hamilton.

The Expendables 2 is about to hit theaters, and it sees the action all-star roster of the first film bolstered with new additions such as Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme, and bigger roles for Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
