Last year obliterated movie release date plans, and as we begin 2021 there’s still some question of what films will open when – and where. For now, the majority of the studios are holding out hope for the return of theatrical releases – especially Disney. Sure, they have streaming services Disney+ and Hulu, but they’re not ready to abandon the theatrical experience just yet.

Case in point: Disney-owned Searchlight Pictures, formerly Fox Searchlight, has released a line-up of new theatrical release dates. The new Searchlight Pictures release dates include the horror flick The Night HouseThe Eyes of Tammy Faye with Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield, the Guillermo del Toro-produced Antlers, and the Guillermo del Toro-directed Nightmare Alley.

Free Guy Release Date

Yesterday, Disney held their huge, exhausting Investors Day presentation, and while they announced plenty of stuff, they didn’t cover everything. For instance: three upcoming Disney-adjacent films – Free Guy, with Ryan Reynolds, Kenneth Branagh‘s Death on the Nile, and the horror film Antlers – received no mention. But now we have some updates. Both Free Guy and Death on the Nile have changed their release dates yet again, while Antlers has vanished from the calendar entirely.

In early October, Fox Searchlight announced the start of shooting for the horror-thriller Antlers, a mysterious project produced by Guillermo del Toro and directed by Scott Cooper (Hostiles). The film stars Keri Russell in her first major horror feature role, as well as Jesse Plemons and young actor Jeremy T. Thomas. The production remains under an intriguing veil of secrecy, except for a handful of images posted on the production’s Instagram teasing a haunting, eerie film.
