Triple Frontier‘s long road to the big screen is almost as fascinating as the film itself. The drug money heist thriller was in the works for years at Paramount Pictures with Katherine Bigelow set to helm the film. Then Netflix picked it up with Oscar-nominated A Most Violent Year director J.C. Chandor attached.
Meanwhile, the cast went through quite a revolving door of actors, with Johnny Depp and Mark Wahlberg at one point slated to lead, then Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum. But the while the coulda beens for this movie are intriguing, the finished product looks like a thrilling film with a cast that is arguably even better than all the past names. Oscar Isaac and Ben Affleck lead a star-studded cast including Charlie Hunman, Garrett Hedlund, and Pedro Pascal, who star as a team of Special Forces operatives who use their special set of skills for personal gain, leading to dangerous consequences. See just what those consequences are with the newest Triple Frontier trailer below.

James Gunn has spent most of 2016 keeping his head down and working hard, but he’ll be back in the spotlight next year with a couple of exciting new releases. One, you surely already know about — we’ve been talking about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 since the moment credits rolled on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 — but the other is just starting its marketing push now.
The Belko Experiment is a lean, mean thriller written and produced by Gunn and directed by Greg McLean (Wolf Creek), starring 10 Cloverfield Lane‘s John Gallagher Jr. as one of many office workers who are trapped together and forced to kill or be killed. Other potential victims / murderers are played by Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker, Adria Arjona, John C. McGinley, Tony Goldwyn, David Dastmalchian, Melonie Diaz, and Josh Brener. The first The Belko Experiment trailer has just been released, and you can watch it below. Read More »

If you’ve ever watched The Wizard of Oz and wished it played more like a low-rent version of Game of Thrones — or, conversely, if you’ve ever watched Game of Thrones and thought it could use some Wizard of Oz insanity — then Emerald City might be for you. The new NBC series from Tarsem Singh reimagines L. Frank Baum’s classic adventure as a grown-up fantasy drama. A young cop named Dorthy Game is whisked off to a far-off realm where she must contend with witches, warriors, sky portals, and Vincent D’Onofrio.

James Gunn has been tied up with Marvel movies for the past couple of years, but somewhere in there, he found the time to write and produce The Belko Experiment. Greg McLean, the Aussie filmmaker behind the nasty Wolf Creek films, takes the helm, and the result is a simple, entertaining horror-thriller that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Read More »
