Cool Posts From Around the Web:
One of the biggest films of the spring may be the latest sci-fi creator from Neill Blomkamp, Chappie. Starring Sharlto Copley, Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel and Sigourney Weaver, the film tells the story of an artificially intelligent robot which finds a place in human society. Buzz has been pretty solid on the film, which promises to combine action, drama and intelligence in a way that could only come from the mind of the director of District 9.
When a movie features robots, explosions, rap stars and giant mechs, you can be sure the Poster Posse is going to take notice. The online art collective has been making cool representations for several recent blockbusters: Guardians of the Galaxy, Interstellar, Big Hero 6, etc. and now they’re tackling Chappie. 2014 is coming to a close, which means there are only a few more days left in the 35th anniversary of Ridley Scott‘s Alien. We recently pronounced the sci-fi masterpiece the director’s best film and there weren’t many arguments about that. Not only did the film create a star and a franchise, it set the standard for what sci-fi horror could be. The film’s designs and environments set a standard for what fans could expect from other films. Visually, Alien is just about as iconic as a movie can be.
Visuals are where the Poster Posse lives. The online poster collective has been making posters for all kinds of releases over the past year or so. To wrap up 2014, they’ve made at set of 35th anniversary Alien posters. Check out a few of our favorites below. Read More »
