snowpiercer trailer

TNT’s Snowpiercer has had a rough ride to the small screen — almost as rough as the perpetual train ride at the center of post-apocalyptic sci-fi series based on Bong Joon-ho’s feature film and Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette’s graphic novel. First it lost its showrunner, then it lost the director of its pilot. Then it bounced back and forth between TNT and TBS before finally making its way back to TNT. Now, after five years of derailments and unexpected stalls, Snowpiercer has a premiere date. Watch the new Snowpiercer trailer to find out when this show is finally coming to TV.

daveed diggs little mermaid

Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid already has Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda on board as a producer and writer of new songs, but now Miranda will be writing for one of his original Hamilton cast members. Daveed Diggs, who broke out in the dual roles of Thomas Jefferson/Marquis de Lafayette in Miranda’s mega-hit Broadway musical, has been cast as Sebastian in the new remake. I’m guessing “Under the Sea” is going to involve a rap breakdown in this version.

Blindspotting Trailer

One of the breakout films from this year’s Sundance Film Festival is the sharp, electric and vital Blindspotting. An impressive blend of stylish comedy and powerful drama makes this a remarkable directorial debut for filmmaker Carlos López Estrada, but it’s the presence of Hamilton star Daveed Diggs giving a breakthrough performance that really drives this movie home. But don’t take our word for it. Take a look at the first Blindspotting trailer below. Read More »

Snowpiercer TV series

Looks like Snowpiercer needs a new conductor. Less than two weeks after the Snowpiercer TV series got the greenlight at TNT, showrunner Josh Friedman has departed. Friedman, who also wrote the pilot and served as executive producer, has allegedly left the series due to creative differences.

Blindspotting review

Remember the name Daveed Diggs, because if the Hollywood gods have any sense of justice, this guy is about to blow up in a major way. Fans of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Broadway smash hit Hamilton are already familiar with Diggs (he played the Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in that show), but in Blindspotting, the opening night movie of the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, Diggs establishes himself as a talented multi-hyphenate who should be at the top of every casting director’s list for years to come.

And while Diggs is terrific in the film, it’s not only a good movie simply because he’s good in it. This is an ambitious film with a lot to say, and director Carlos Lopez Estrada pulls off an impressive high-wire act of balancing drama, humor, and suspense throughout. Put this one on your radar now, because you’re going to want to make sure you see this when it eventually comes to theaters. Read More »
