Netflix Shrinking End Credits

BoJack Horseman will soon be wrapping up its sixth and final season with a final batch of episodes debuting on Netflix on January 31. That means creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg is free to throw some shade at the home of his critically-acclaimed animated series – specifically at how the streaming service handles the end credits.

Any Netflix user can tell you that once a movie or show is over, after a few seconds of rolling a small amount of the names who worked on the given film or series, the end credits are minimized into a small window in favor of teasing a Netflix original project. That’s frustrating to Raphael Bob-Waksberg, who finds it disrespectful and hopes to work with a distributor who doesn’t treat series creators and the creative minds responsible for making movies and TV shows so flippantly. Bojack Horseman Canceled

The Netflix animated series Bojack Horseman is coming to an end with the show’s sixth season. The first eight episodes of the final season just dropped on October 25 (solidifying its place as one of the best animated shows ever), and the second half of the season will arrive sometime in 2020. If you’re sad to see the series go, you can blame Netflix, who chose to cancel the series. Creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg has confirmed that the show could have continued for a couple more years before wrapping things up, but the streaming serviced decided it was time to end. Read More »

BoJack Horseman Showrunner Interview

Fans of Bojack Horseman don’t have to be sold on Emmy consideration anymore. For four seasons, they’ve watched the Netflix animated series deliver a scathing commentary on Hollywood and the world at large through the lens of anthropomorphic animal celebrities and interspecies romance.

We’d previously covered Bojack Horseman’s fourth season, the one that is currently eligible for 2018 Emmy nominations, when it premiered in September. At the time of the launch, we didn’t want to spoil too much of the details of Bojack’s mother’s dementia flashback episode “Time’s Arrow” or the scathing reaction to mass shootings with Courtney Portnoy’s kickass action heroine movie delayed every time there was another shooting. But now, all spoilers are on the table.

Bojack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg spoke to /Film before the Netflix #FYSEE panel for Bojack Horseman, which hopefully got the show on the minds of Emmy voters. Season 5 will arrive on September 14 and we got to go deep into exactly how the show is paving a new way for television animation.

bojack horseman 3

“Where’s Bojack” is the mystery of Bojack Horseman’s fourth season, and also the feeling of fans who’ve been waiting since they binge-watched season 3 last summer. Last season featured the landmark episode “Fish Out of Water” in which Bojack (Will Arnett) attended an underwater film festival, featured Bojack finding out he had a long lost daughter, and introduced Mr. Peanutbutter’s (Paul F. Tompkins) plan to for office.

/Film has been pursuing Bojack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg for several years now, so we had a lot to talk about when we finally spoke by phone. We spoke vaguely about season 4, so that you could read this either before or after you watch the season, and discussed general questions that have been percolating about the show for four years.
