Back in the Day

High school only takes up a few years, and yet to hear pop culture tell it, it’s one of the most defining periods of our lives. The movies are rife with characters either in high school and learning to understand themselves, or characters long out of high school but desperate to relive to the good old days for whatever reason.

The indie comedy Back in the Day falls into the latter category, following an insurance salesman who goes home for his twenty-year reunion. The cast is filled with familiar faces from all over: Michael Rosenbaum, best known as Lex Luthor on Smallville, wrote, directed, and stars; his former flame is played by Homeland‘s Morena Baccarin, and his old gang includes Nick Swardson, Stan from Mad Men, and the Old Spice Guy. Here’s yet another addition to the growing list of possibilities for Peter Quill / Star-Lord in James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy. A source is reporting that John Krasinski is being considered for the role, though with so many stars associated with the role at this point, it’s tough to say how likely Krasinski really is to land the part.

More intriguingly, casting is now also underway for the role of Drax the Destroyer. The first three names to crop up as contenders for that part are Old Spice pitchman Isaiah Mustafa, WWE superstar Dave Bautista, and Generation Kill actor Brian Patrick Wade. Read more after the jump.

Several of Arnett and Bateman’s other comedy pals show up, including Zach Galifianakis, Paul Rudd, Judd Apatow, and the Old Spice Guy (a.k.a. Isaiah Mustafa). Check out the trailer after the jump.
