Apple refuses to stop adding shows to their streaming service. Don’t even try to stop them. The latest: a Time Bandits TV series, based on Terry Gilliam‘s film of the same name. The Time Bandits series joins an ever-growing list of eclectic original programming set to debut on Apple’s streaming service.
Last year, we learned that Apple is going to be producing high-level original scripted programming in an effort to compete with Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu. The tech company has racked up a handful of shows since that announcement, but they’ve yet to announce exactly how customers will be able to actually watch those shows. That question is still a mystery, but at South By Southwest, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services offered an explanation for their strategy of creating Apple’s original TV series. M. Night Shyamalan is the latest big name to head to Apple. The Sixth Sense filmmaker will produce a straight-to-series thriller for Apple’s new streaming service. In their quest to compete with Netflix, Apple has already signed several big names for new projects.
