2019 Emmy Nominations

It’s almost time to honor the finest achievements in television again. The 71st Primetime Emmy Awards will air this fall, but before that, we need to know who has been nominated for the most coveted awards in television. Covering drama, comedy, variety, reality, animation and more, the Emmys honor the best in television and streaming, and this year is full of a wide spectrum of nominees from network, cable, and various streaming services.

The big news is Game of Thrones finished its television run with a record-setting 32 nominations this year, the most for any program in a single season, beating the previous record set by NYPD Blue. Meanwhile, on the comedy side of things, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel landed 20 nominations, and in the limited series category, Chernobyl made a big showing with 19 total nominations.

This Is Us is the closest thing to a cultural phenomenon that’s not on HBO right now, so it’s no wonder NBC is invested in Dan Fogelman‘s touching generations-spanning melodrama. In an unprecedented move for the network, NBC has renewed This Is Us for three additional seasons, bringing its total season count to six seasons. 2019 SAG Awards Winners

Awards season continues as we inch closer to the Academy Awards, and last night, an unlikely winner emerged to take home the top prize at the 25th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Marvel’s Black Panther walked away with the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, the SAG equivalent of Best Picture. The film beat out BlacKkKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, Crazy Rich Asians and A Star Is Born. And that’s not even the only award that Black Panther took home. AFI awards 2018

The American Film Institute, the film school and film history organization famous for alumni like Darren Aronofsky, Patty Jenkins, Terrence Malick, and David Lynch, has announced the honorees of this year’s AFI Awards. The organization voted on ten movies and ten television series that are “artistically significant” and represent “the year’s most outstanding achievements in the art of the moving image”, and the winners include movies like If Beale Street Could Talk, BlacKkKlansman, Eighth Grade, and shows like Atlanta and Barry. 2017 Emmys Opening - Stephen Colbert

The 69th Primetime Emmy Awards were broadcast on CBS last night, handing out awards to HBO’s Big Little Lies and Veep, Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, Netflix’s Black Mirror, NBC’s This Is Us, FX’s Atlanta, and many more (get the full list of winners right here). But if you weren’t able to watch, we have the best moments from the show for your viewing pleasure.

The Late Show host Stephen Colbert served as master of ceremonies, opening the show with a musical number and an extensive monologue that featured one surprising guest that not only shocked people, but also made them feel a little uncomfortable. This morning brought the cavalcade of nominations for the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards, which will be handed out in September. Westworld was out in front with a whopping 22 nominations for its freshman season while other debut shows like This Is Us, as well as continuing shows like Veep and Saturday Night Live, also landed a surprising number of nods.
