the woman in the window review

It’s been a long time since I’ve watched a new movie that could qualify for the “so bad it’s good” designation, but The Woman in the Window comes pretty darn close. Already infamous for being long-delayed (it was supposed to open in theaters in 2019) and for its extensive reshoots, the Joe Wright-directed adaptation of the bestselling novel arrives on Netflix and robs a bunch of talented people of their dignity in the process. Here is proof that you can hire a skilled director, a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer, and a killer cast and still end up with junk. But is it at least entertaining junk? No, not really. You might get a cheap thrill from the absurdity of it all, though.

Netflix 2021 Summer Movie Preview

Netflix has a lot of money to throw around. In fact, they have roughly $17 billion that they’re spending on content for their streaming library in 2021 alone. That would explain how they’re packing the summer movie season with over 30 movies from the end of April through August.

The Netflix Summer Movie Preview has just been released, featuring footage from the many releases that audiences will hopefully be eager to check out this season. On top of new glimpses of  Zack Snyder‘s zombie heist movie Army of the Dead, the thriller The Woman in the Window, and the outstanding animated sci-fi adventure The Mitchells vs. The Machines, there are sneak peeks of the documentary Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Betrayal & Greed, the horror franchise Fear Street Trilogy, Liam Neeson in action mode again in The Ice Road, and some kind of wild, animated founding fathers revisionist history movie called America: The Motion Picture, produced by Phil Lord & Chris Miller. We’re finally going to get to see The Woman in the Window, the Joe Wright/Amy Adams film that was once scheduled to hit theaters in 2019. the woman in the window trailer

The Woman in the Window, based on the bestseller by A. J. Finn, is cut from the same cloth as stories like Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train, which could be good or bad. The Gone Girl film adaptation was wonderful, but the Girl on the Train movie was…not. There first The Woman in the Window trailer is now here, and – based on this footage, at least – it, unfortunately, looks closer to Girl on the Train than Gone GirlOn the plus side: it stars Amy Adams, who is almost always fantastic. Maybe Adams’ presence alone will help keep things going.
