MobLand Season 2, Episode 3 Proves The Show Hasn't Lost A Step
This post contains spoilers for "MobLand" Season 2, Episode 3, "Bonzo Goes to Bitburg."
The Harrigans are back and, somehow, even more twisted than ever. "MobLand" Season 2 has been a solid return for Tom Hardy's Harry Da Souza and the crew thus far, with the consistently beleaguered Harry having to clean up increasingly messy situations caused by his reckless criminal bosses. It's the classic "MobLand" formula that made Season 1 so great. The ticking time bomb that is Harry calmly pushes through endless tumult to preserve the Harrigans' grip on North London's criminal underworld. But Episode 3, "Bonzo Goes to Bitburg," takes things to another level as new villain Frankie Cooper (Johnny Flynn) ratchets up his war on the Harrigans.
"MobLand" started off as a "Ray Donovan" spin-off but quickly established itself as its own thing entirely. Season 1 was a perfect collection of eight episodes, to the extent it wasn't clear whether Season 2 could maintain the quality. What's more, the balance of power in the Harrigan crime family had been well and truly upended by the Season 1 finale, which meant Season 2 was going to be an altogether different experience. While that was exciting, it also meant things simply couldn't be the same moving forward, and given how unrelentingly gripping Season 1 had been, any change was always going to be concerning.
Thankfully, "Bonzo Goes to Bitburg" more than proves this series hasn't lost a step, delivering the most explosive episode in series history — literally. Ending with what might be the show's most impressive set piece to date, the hour seems designed to prove this series (which has, rather publicly, endured some off-screen issues in recent months) is as terrific as ever.
Frankie Cooper makes the Harrigans an offer in MobLand's latest episode
"MobLand" has long since proved to be the perfect "Yellowstone" replacement simply by delivering some of the wildest plot developments imaginable. Season 2 continues the racket, beginning with Pierce Brosnan's Conrad Harrigan orchestrating a bloodbath in a Greyhound race track viewing room. Clearly, the Harrigans remain as volatile, violent, and out of control as ever. Still, Season 1 was always going to be hard to top. Thankfully, things have only gotten better and, yes, more haywire as the season has gone on.
The second episode of Season 2 saw Frankie Cooper launch a war on the Harrigans on the advice of Toby Jones' bent copper Colin Tattersall. The episode ended on a cliffhanger, as Cooper's men systematically took out key members of the Harrigan family and kidnapped Lara Pulver's Isabella Harrigan. But Episode 3 takes things up a notch.
"Bonzo Goes to Bitburg" sees Cooper call for a meeting between him, Conrad, Harry Da Souza, and Kevin Harrigan (Paddy Considine). It seems Cooper has a plan for taking over the family's illicit dealings, which would essentially install him as the head of the operation while retaining key members of the family. Johnny Flynn is exceptional as this oddly blithe gangster, who rocks up to the Harrigans' shipyard headquarters on a motorized scooter and saunters into the meeting seemingly without a care in the world. After Kevin, Seraphina Harrigan (Mandeep Dhillon), and Harry turn down his offer to assume control of the Harrigans' operation, he releases Bella and leaves the yard. Yet, it all seems too easy ... because it is.
Frankie Cooper razes the Harrigans' London headquarters in MobLand Episode 3
Episode 3 ends with Harry Da Souza, Kevin Harrigan, and Seraphina Harrigan leaving the meeting room and walking outside. Meanwhile, Bella Harrigan is set free as Frankie Cooper rides off on his scooter. Aside from Harry suspecting Seraphina's motives, all seems about as well as could be hoped for following the dramatic events of Episode 2.
But when one of the Harrigans' henchmen goes to close up the office, he notices Cooper's helmet has been left under the meeting room table. Turns out the helmet has been rigged with a bomb that's apparently powerful enough to level the entire building. Once the henchman picks it up, the whole place goes up in flames in what is easily the most spectacular moment in "MobLand" history. The explosion looks big enough to raze the entire shipyard and acts as an ominous representation of just how dangerous Cooper really is. If there was any concern that "MobLand" wouldn't be able to maintain its pace in Season 2, then, that concern went up in flames with the Harrigans' shipyard.
That's especially reassuring considering the show's recent off-screen woes. In May 2026, it was reported that Tom Hardy had been fired from "MobLand" following on-set issues. Thankfully, Paramount+ subsequently renewed the show for Season 3, with Tom Hardy confirmed to return as the lead of "MobLand" alongside Brosnan and Mirren. As such, we're guessing Frankie isn't entirely successful in his mission to wipe out the Harrigans, though it remains to be seen just what horrors and tragedies await the embattled crime family as Season 2 goes on. Having blown up their London headquarters, Frankie will have to pull out all the stops to top his latest attack, and we can't wait to see it.
