The Pain Hustlers: Everything We Know So Far About Netflix's Crime Drama Starring Chris Evans

We love watching Chris Evans in romantic comedies. In villainous roles. In action thrillers. And soon, in crime dramas. The actor has dabbled in distinct projects, more so since stepping away from his superhero responsibilities. He was recently seen playing the egocentric sociopath Lloyd Hansen alongside Ryan Gosling in Netflix's "The Gray Man."

Lately, Evans has joined a new production alongside award-winning actress Emily Blunt, a crime drama film titled "The Pain Hustlers," which Netflix acquired global rights to during this year's Cannes Film Festival. The Chris Evans and Emily Blunt-led film has found several new award-winning cast members (via Variety); keep reading to learn all you need to know about it.

What is The Pain Hustlers about?

"The Pain Hustlers," penned by American screenwriter Wells Towers depicts a blue-collar woman's endeavor to live the American dream. As per the official logline, the film follows Liza Drake (Emily Blunt), a former high school dropout who dreams of having a better life for her younger daughter and herself. When she lands a job with a failing pharmaceutical startup in a Central Florida-located mall, her charm, courage, and hard work catapult the company into immense success, giving her the life she has yearned for. Soon, Liza finds herself facing deadly consequences at the center of a criminal conspiracy that comes to light. The project is said to be in the vein of "The Big Short" and "The Wolf of Wall Street" and will feature a similar theme and tone.

Who is starring in The Pain Hustlers?

If there's one thing about "The Pain Hustlers" that you should look forward to, it's the cast.

Along with Emily Blunt and Chris Evans, the film has found its newest cast members in comedy veteran and Emmy-winner Catherine O'Hara ("Schitt's Creek," "Home Alone"), actors Jay Duplass ("Togetherness," "The Chair"), and Andy Garcia ("Ocean's Eleven," The Lost City"). It is unclear what roles the three performers are set to play, as details about their characters are being kept under wraps.

The ensemble also includes Brian d'Arcy James ("Spotlight," "West Side Story") and young actress Chloe Coleman ("My Spy," "Marry Me"). The film was scheduled to start production in August 2022, so we can expect to hear more news soon!

David Yates is helming the film

David Yates, the English filmmaker well-known for directing multiple "Harry Potter" films, including the franchise's concluding films "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" Part I and II and the spin-off "Fantastic Beasts" franchise, will be at the helm for "The Pain Hustlers." After experiencing Yates' strong visual style and flair for realism on the screen over all these years, we can expect the same from "The Pain Hustlers."

In addition to directing the film, Yates will also serve as producer through his company Wychwood Media. Also set to produce is Lawrence Grey of Grey Matter Productions. Lewis Taylor and Ben Everard will serve as executive producers on the star-studded film. The list of co-producers includes the likes of Cyrus Mojibi, Patrick Wade, Lawrence Kao, and Lloyd Everard.

Considering "The Pain Hustlers" begins filming soon, we can hopefully see the film arrive on the streamer sometime in late 2023.
