Love, Victor Trailer

Back in 2018, 20th Century Fox gave us the coming-of-age teen romance Love, Simon. It was your average romantic comedy about a young kid trying to figure out his place in the world as he deals with the trials and tribulations of being a teenager, but it followed the journey of a young gay kid named Simon (Nick Robinson). It wasn’t exactly innovative with the storytelling, but that’s also what made it a little groundbreaking. It was a traditional romantic comedy that gave a queer relationship the spotlight.

Now Hulu is following in the footsteps of Love, Simon with a new series called Love, Victor, which also follows a closeted gay teen (Michael Cimino) as he makes his way through a new high school, making friends, and coming to terms with his sexual orientation. Love Victor Teaser Clip

A series spin-off of the teenage romance feature film Love, Simon was originally destined for premiere on Disney+. However, the series apparently turned out to be a little too adult-oriented for the family friendly streaming service (you know, the one that has a movie about a man having sex with a mermaid), and it made the jump to Hulu. Now a first look at the series titled Love, Victor has made its way online in the form of a teaser clip of the show’s main character partaking in a nervously flirtatious coffee shop job interview that gets pretty steamy. Michael Cimino Dead

This weekend brings sad news of an Academy Award-winning filmmaker passing away as The Deer Hunter and Heaven’s Gate director Michael Cimino has died at 77 years old. Police discovered Michael Cimino dead in his home Saturday after friends had attempted to reach him with no response. Cannes Film Festival director Thierry Fremaux posted (in French) that Cimino died in peace surround by those close to him and the two women who loved him.
