Spider-Man Far From Home

Peter Parker and his fellow classmates are enjoying their trip abroad in Europe, taking a boat ride through what appears to be their first stop in Italy, likely Venice since that’s where production was spotted last year.

Spider-Man Far From Home - Zendaya as MJ

It looks like MJ (Zendaya) is starting to get a little smitten by Peter Parker, as she steals a longing look at him while they’re cruising through Venice.

Spider-Man Far From Home - Zendaya as MJ

Peter appears to be just as charmed by MJ, even though he doesn’t entirely understand her sense of humor yet. This version of MJ is a nice change of pace from what we’ve usually seen from the character before. It doesn’t matter that she doesn’t look like the traditional comic book version, it’s all about the dynamic between them.

Spider-Man Far From Home

Here’s where Peter Parker and all of his classmates will be staying. Don’t you dare think we’re not going to point out the fact that there’s an adorable cat standing on one of the tables in the middle of the room. Will Nick Fury play with that cat like he did in the Captain Marvel trailer? I certainly hope so.

Spider-Man Far From Home - Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds

Speaking of Nick Fury, he interrupts a story that Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) was trying to tell Peter in their room by shooting a tranquilizer dart right into his neck.

Spider-Man Far From Home - Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury

No one makes an entrance quite like Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, especially when it comes to surprising whoever he needs to talk to. Plus, it sounds cool just to hear Fury finally say “Spider-Man” in that somewhat menacing, unamused way.

Spider-Man Far From Home - Tom Holland as Peter Parker

What I love about Peter Parker’s reaction is that he’s not immediately concerned about Ned, but is instead excited about the fact that it’s Nick Fury in his room, and he specifically wants to talk to him. No matter how much experience Peter gets as Spider-Man, there are still things that are simply cool to him because he’s still a teenage superhero.

Spider-Man Far From Home

Nick Fury needs Spider-Man to help him with something in Venice, and we see Peter suited up as Spider-Man with Nick Fury sitting in the driver’s seat of a boat. Is that the new suit inspired by Steve Ditko’s original designs for Spider-Man? Or is that the old suit from Homecoming? We’re not sure, especially since in the international trailer, Aunt May ends up sending the Spider-Man suit along with Peter, thinking that he forgot it.

Spider-Man Far From Home - Elemental

At the very least, we know that by the time Peter Parker ends up in London, he’s gotten the new suit with the black accents instead of the royal blue color from Homecoming. Here he’s seen leaping towards some kind of fire on the Tower Bridge. So much for being only a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

Spider-Man Far From Home

In a close-up shot from this same scene, we see that Spidey’s web wings are still in place too, and that’s definitely the Steve Ditko designed suit. The question is whether it’s a whole new suit or just a modified version of the old suit.

Spider-Man Far From Home - Elemental

Here’s our first glimpse of the villains known as Elementals. They’re taken from the comics, but their origin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe remains to be revealed. This one appears to be the Elemental known as Magnum, Master of the Earth, but again, that’s from the comics, and we don’t know if that detail will be included in the movie.

Spider-Man Far From Home - Elemental

Speaking of Elementals, it looks like more may be attacking the Tower Bridge, which is likely the cause of the previous shot of fire and smoke that Spider-Man was leaping towards. It appears Hellfire, Wielder of Flame is here, but what about the electricity? There’s no electric Elemental, but there is Zephyr, Mistress of the Winds, so maybe that one has been adjusted to create lightning along with wind. It’s hard to tell.

Spider-Man Far From Home

Meanwhile, a quick shot shows Spider-Man leaping away from an explosion, though the source of the explosion isn’t clear. This shot looks a little lighter than the shots of fire on the Tower Bridge, but this structure is clearly one of the two towers from that bridge, so it appears to be from the same action sequence.
