This Thor: Love And Thunder Star Wants A Captain Marvel Team-Up

When "Captain Marvel" was first released into theaters in 2019, Marvel fans fell in love with Carol Danvers (Brie Larson). I mean, how could you not? Whether she was rocking Nine Inch Nails shirts or fighting dangerous Kree soldiers, she was a likable, if not just a bit naive badass who continues to help shape the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It should come as no surprise, then, that some other MCU actors are eager for their characters to fight alongside Danvers if they hadn't already done so in "Avengers: Endgame." Natalie Portman, whose Jane Foster will finally become The Mighty Thor in "Thor: Love and Thunder," is one such actor, and has made her interest in a Mighty Thor and Captain Marvel team-up very clear. When speaking at the "Thor: Love and Thunder" premiere, she picked her "dear friend" Larsen to be her dream crossover.

"I love Captain Marvel," said Portman. "Brie is a dear friend so that would be a fun one. That would be cool."

A crossover of epic proportions

There is a lot of potential for a Mighty Thor and Captain Marvel team-up. Remember, Danvers is arguably the strongest Avenger and has actually lifted Mjolnir before in her ongoing comic series (albeit temporarily). It also doesn't hurt that Jane has already proven herself to be more than capable of taking over the Thor mantle, as seen in previous trailers and clips of "Thor: Love and Thunder." With all of this in mind, it seems like the two heroes would be a formidable team if they were to ever cross paths.

Even if they never end up sharing the screen, it's still really cool how we can have multiple female heroes in movies and not have them compete against each other over who's better. The MCU hasn't quite gotten how to uplift these female heroes, but little girls growing up with the MCU, they'll be able to know that female heroes are often as powerful as, if not more powerful than their male counterparts, and that's ultimately what matters. Portman agrees with this sentiment, saying she's lucky that the Mighty Thor storyline has finally made its way to the big screen.

"I feel so excited that...has become part of the story arc for Jane," she explained. "I think it's incredible that all children have an array of women they can identify with and there's just not one."

Excited to see the Mighty Thor in action? "Thor: Love and Thunder" hits theaters on July 8.
