Roar: Release Date, Cast, And More

(Welcome to ...And More, our no-frills, zero B.S. guide to when and where you can watch upcoming movies and shows, and everything else you could possibly stand to know.)

The streaming wars have made it so there are so many players in the game it can be nearly impossible to keep up with everything out there. But Apple TV+ has rather quietly built up an impressive library of shows and movies that has increasingly asserted itself as a necessary subscription for people who want to stay caught up with the pop culture conversation. Shows like "Ted Lasso" and movies like "Finch" add a lot of value, and Apple isn't just sitting on their hands. They have a ton of high-profile stuff coming down the pipeline in 2022, with "Roar" among those titles to pay attention to. The anthology show features a stacked cast and some key talent behind the camera, and we're here to give you all of the need-to-know info so you can be ready when the show debuts later this year.

Here is everything you need to know about "Roar."

Roar release date and where you can watch it

"Roar" is set to debut on Apple TV+ on Friday, April 15, 2022. All eight episodes of the show will drop at once, so viewers will have the opportunity to binge away, should they so please. The series will be exclusive to the streaming service, so those who wish to watch it will need to be subscribed in order to do so.

What is Roar?

This is a female-driven anthology series based on the book of the same name by Cecelia Ahern. The book was released in 2018 and collects a batch of short stories all focused on women. This series will be adapting a selection of the stories from Ahern's book, with big-name stars headlining the various episodes.

Roar showrunners, crew, and more

Carly Mensch and Liz Flahive ("GLOW") are serving as co-creators and showrunners of the series. They have an overall deal with Apple TV+ in place and this is the first show to come about as a result of that deal. Nicole Kidman and Per Saari are on board as executive producers alongside Bruna Papandrea, Theresa Park, Steve Hutensky, and Allie Goss. Ahern is additionally set as an executive producer, which gives the original author a voice in the adaptation.

Roar cast

The cast for the show is, in a word, stacked. Headlining the series will be Nicole Kidman ("Being the Ricardos"), Cynthia Erivo ("Respect"), Issa Rae ("The Lovebirds"), Merritt Wever ("Nurse Jackie"), Alison Brie ("Community"), and Betty Gilpin ("GLOW"). Rounding out the main cast will be Meera Syal ("Yesterday"), Fivel Stewart ("Atypical"), and Kara Hayward ("Moonrise Kingdom").
