Army Of Thieves: Release Date, Cast, And More

(Welcome to ...And More, our no-frills, zero B.S. guide to when and where you can watch upcoming movies and shows, and everything else you could possibly stand to know.)

In "Army of Thieves," Matthias Schweighöfer is back to crack some more safes and reprise his role as Dieter from Zack Snyder's "Army of the Dead." This time, he'll be doing it to the tune of some Hans Zimmer music. Will there be zombies? Who's to say. But there will definitely be thievery and landmarks in Europe.

Here's everything we know about "Army of Thieves."

Army of Thieves Release Date and Where You Can Watch It

"Army of Thieves" will hit Netflix just in time for Halloween weekend, on Friday, October 29, 2021. Snyder himself announced the release date and posted a teaser for "Army of Thieves" on his personal Twitter account back in August.

What Is Army of Thieves?

"Army of Thieves" is the first spin-off of "Army of the Dead," and there are others on the way, including a full-on sequel and an anime TV series, "Lost Vegas." For its part, "Army of Thieves" is a prequel movie that takes place in Europe while the zombie apocalypse is unfolding on TV in America.

It seems like this film will focus more on the "heist" aspect of the proverbial zombie heist movie. However, if the apocalypse is already happening in-universe, you never know when zombies might show up.

Here's the official synopsis for "Army of Thieves:"

In this prequel to Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead, small-town bank teller Dieter gets drawn into the adventure of a lifetime when a mysterious woman recruits him to join a crew of Interpol's most wanted criminals, attempting to heist a sequence of legendary, impossible-to-crack safes across Europe.

Army of Thieves Director, Writer, and More

Schweighöfer directs "Army of Thieves" and it's written by Shay Hatten, who co-wrote "Army of the Dead" with Snyder and Joby Harold. Snyder has a "Story by" credit on this film and, according to IMDb, he's co-producing it with his wife, Deborah Snyder, along with Schweighöfer, Dan Maag, Wesley Coller, and Misha Bukowski.

Zimmer and Steve Mazzaro handle the music, with Bernhard Jasper providing the cinematography.

Army of Thieves Cast

Schweighöfer headlines "Army of Thieves" with Nathalie Emmanuel, best known for her roles as Missandei on "Game of Thrones" and Megan in the "Fast & Furious" movies. Ruby O. Fee, Stuart Martin, Guz Khan, and Jonathan Cohen round out the rest of the main cast.
