Cool Stuff: New 'Harry Potter' LEGO Sets Let You Build The Wizarding World

When the Harry Potter franchise was at the height of popularity, there were plenty of LEGO sets taking advantage of the merchandising opportunity of millions of kids looking for every piece of wizarding world memorabilia they could get their hands on. However, the quality of LEGO sets has increased since then, and it's time for new Harry Potter LEGO sets that are better than the old ones in every way, including a new LEGO Hogwarts Express.

LEGO Hogwarts Express

First up, there's the Hogwarts Express, complete with Platform 9 3/4 from King's Cross Station in London. The steam engine that takes students to Hogwarts has never looked better in LEGO form, and this one includes minigures that take a cue from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Harry, Ron, and Hermione are all in their street clothes, and Remus Lupin is included along with dementor as well.

The set will retail for $79.99.

Quidditch Match

For al you fans looking to stage a game of the famous wizarding sport, LEGO has you covered. Harry is on his broom in full Gryffindor gear and he's got some Slytherin opponents in the form of Lucian Bole and Marcus Flint. Not sure why they wouldn't include Draco Malfoy in this set for good measure, but it might be because it's based off The Sorcerer's Stone scene where Ron and Hermione come to believe Snape (also included as a minifigured) was trying to curse Harry during the match. Don't lose the little Golden Snithch!

The set will retail for $39.99

Hogwarts Whomping Willow

Finally, there's also another piece of the Hogwarts castle coming to LEGO (along with the previously revealed Great Hall), and that's a little courtyard area you can build along with the Whomping Willow the Arthur Weasley's enchanted flying Ford Anglia. This set is inspired by Chamber of Secrets, and it's a little annoying that this set comes with another Severus Snape minifigure instead of someone like Hagrid, but whatever. Other minifigures include Seamus Finnigan, Argus Filch, Hermione Granger and a little Hedwig the owl.

This set will retail for $69.99

***

These new Harry Potter LEGO sets are all fantastic, but the one that I really want is a new LEGO version of Hogwarts in its entirety. It would be cool if LEGO allowed you to build Hogwarts set by set with individual sets that all connected to form the castle, but that's probably too complicated. Since Hogwarts was released as a set before, it's bound to be redone again and in a better fashion, so we'll just have to be patient.

Otherwise, there's no release date for these Harry Potter LEGO sets yet, but they'll likely hit shelves closer to the release of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald since there are LEGO sets tied to that film coming this year as well.
