Spider-Man: No Way Home Extended Cut Release Date, Details & More

Remember when "Spider-Man: No Way Home" was a major deal? We do, and the powers that be at Sony and Marvel Studios do as well. That's because an extended cut of the film subtitled "The More Fun Stuff Version," was announced this past June. Details on the re-release, including its length, are scarce, but it has been announced that it will include extended and previously deleted scenes.

Of course, you could purchase "No Way Home" from a digital retailer such as iTunes or Amazon. You can even purchase it on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD. However, what's the fun in that? Besides, it likely won't include any of the newly-added scenes that Sony has touted as being extremely necessary to watch in theaters.

There's not a ton that has been publicly released about "The More Fun Stuff Version" of "Spider-Man: No Way Home." However, there are still some critical details that fans should know before it swings into theaters.

When The More Fun Stuff Version will be released, and where to watch it

'Spider-Man: No Way Home' Sony Pictures

Theaters in the United States will be graced once again by "No Way Home" on September 2, 2022. However, the U.S. is not the only country that will receive it, as countries like Australia, Canada, and Hong Kong will also receive the extended cut on that same day. Here's a full breakdown of the global release dates:

(Note: This Twitter post lists the U.S. release date as September 1, but either this was in error or the dates have since been adjusted. The current planned U.S. release date for the extended cut is September 2.)

As previously alluded to, this version of "No Way Home" will be exclusive to theaters for the time being. It is more than likely that it will eventually be made available to purchase digitally or on Blu-ray/DVD, but no official announcement has been made about its home video release. Besides, how else can they crack the top five of the highest-grossing movies of all time?

How much fun stuff is in the 'More Fun Stuff Version' of Spider-Man: No Way Home?

With the re-release date for "Spider-Man: No Way Home: The More Fun Stuff Version" closing in, Fandango revealed that the extended cut will include 11 minutes of new footage. Add that on to the movie's already weighty runtime of 2 hours and 28 minutes, and you'll probably want to limit your fluid intake (or strategically time your bathroom breaks). While there might be some debate over whether or not 11 minutes of new footage is enough to make the trip back to the theater, "No Way Home" is a fun movie to see in a crowd of Marvel fans even without an extended runtime.

We actually have a good idea of which scenes will be featured in this extended cut, since the Walmart exclusive edition of the "Spider-Man: No Way Home" Blu-ray release was originally advertised as including a collection of deleted scenes that didn't end up on the disc. Presumably these scenes were held back for the "More Fun Stuff Version" so that it could lay claim to 11 minutes of "new footage." Here's a list of scenes that were cut from the Blu-ray release:

  • "Peter Day at Midtown High"
  • "Undercroft Montage"
  • "Happy's Very Good Lawyer"
  • "The Spideys Hang Out"

If that's enough to tempt you back, tickets for "Spider-Man: No Way Home: The More Fun Stuff Version" go on sale from Tuesday 23 August, 2022, ahead of its arrival in U.S. theaters on September 2, 2022.
