Cheaper By The Dozen Reboot - Everything We Know So Far

(Welcome to ...And More, our no-frills, zero B.S. guide to when and where you can watch upcoming movies and shows, and everything else you could possibly stand to know.)

If a movie is fit to be rebooted once before, why not one more time? Disney seems to be taking a lesson straight out of the "If it ain't broke..." playbook, reviving "Cheaper by the Dozen" after the last film in the series released in 2005, which itself was a reboot of the 1950 iteration. That film, of course, was based on the original series of novels by writers Frank B. Gilbreth Jr., and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey. This latest iteration will seek to modernize the property even further, adding a fresh cast and team of writers to ostensibly set this version apart from the previous ones. If you ask me, I'm not sure how much more juice can still be wrung out of the "Parents overwhelmed by 10 out-of-control children" orange, but I'm curious to see Disney try! Read on for everything you need to know about "Cheaper by the Dozen."

Cheaper by the Dozen Release Date and Where You Can Watch It

Thanks to this year's inaugural Disney+ Day, one of the many items we've been given a wealth of new information about includes "Cheaper by the Dozen." We now know the release date is scheduled for March of 2022, with an exact date still to be set in stone. The movie will premiere straight to streaming on Disney+ for subscribers.

What Is Cheaper by the Dozen?

Audiences are likely familiar with the Steve Martin-starring "Cheaper by the Dozen" film and its 2005 sequel, where he leads the cast as the patriarch of the family who is woefully in over his head, finding himself and his family at a momentous crossroads in their lives. This newest version of the film follows that basic premise to the letter and "...centers on a blended family of 12, navigating a hectic home life and their family business." Actor Gabrielle Union echoed that initial description while going just a bit further, referring to the film as, "It's an update on the classic comedy centered on a multi-racial, blended family of 12, navigating a hectic home life while managing their family business."

Cheaper by the Dozen Cast

Disney's "Cheaper by the Dozen" stars actors Gabrielle Union and Zach Braff as the two parents of their ten rambunctious children. They will be joined, of course, by several actors who will be portraying those aforementioned kids. These include Journee Brown, Kylie Rogers, Andre Robinson, Caylee Blosenski, Aryan Simhadri, Leo A. Perry, Mykal-Michelle Harris, Christian Cote, Sebastian Cote, and Luke Prael.

Cheaper by the Dozen Director, Writers, and More

After directing the 2003 film, filmmaker Shawn Levy (the "Night at the Museum" trilogy, "Real Steel," "Stranger Things," "Free Guy") steps back into an executive producing role for the "Cheaper by the Dozen" reboot. Stepping in as director, meanwhile, is Gail Lerner, known for directing and executive producing "Black-ish." The film is written by Kenya Barris, known for "Girls Trip," "Shaft," and "Black-ish," as well as by Craig Titley ("Cheaper by the Dozen," "Cheaper by the Dozen 2," Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.").
