Watch The First Footage From 'Fast 8', Which Has A Brand New Title
This weekend will bring another blockbuster trailer debut, this time for the eighth installment of the Fast and Furious franchise. It's hard to believe that we've come this far with Vin Diesel and the rest of the crew, but here we are. So far we've been calling the film Fast 8, but the movie has just gotten a brand new title, and it's both kinda silly, but still pretty cool. The sequel will be called The Fate of the Furious, but sadly not The F8 of the Furious.
In addition to the new title announcement, the first footage from the sequel has just debuted online before the full trailer arrives sometime on Sunday. It has all the insane action you'd expect, but this time in Cuba and the bitter cold of Iceland. Some of this action looks like Mad Max: Fury Road on ice, and that's just awesome.
Watch the Fast and Furious 8 trailer tease after the jump.
Vin Diesel is back in action along with Dwayne Johnson again. Their work even sparked some kind of rivalry, though it could turn out to be promotion for the movie. Plus, we have the return of Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Chris "Ludacris" Bridges .
Meanwhile, newer crew member Natalie Emmanuel is returning from Furious 7 along with Jason Statham and Kurt Russell. Plus, we have all-new cast members like Charlize Theron, Scott Eastwood, Kristofer Hivju and Helen Mirren. Exactly how they're all involved, we're not sure, but Theron is meant to be the villain this time (you can spot her in the teaser above), so we'll surely get to see her behind the wheel again, and hopefully she's just as bad ass as she was in Mad Max: Fury Road.
F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton, Law Abiding Citizen) is behind the camera for this one, and he was able to take the movie to several locations the franchise hasn't gone. We can see glimpses of Cuba and Iceland in the teaser above, but New York City will also play a part in the action as well. Hopefully see some Big Apple mayhem when the full trailer arrives.
Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game—and the rest of the crew has been exonerated—the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. But when a mysterious woman (Charlize Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he can't seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before.
From the shores of Cuba and the streets of New York City to the icy plains off the arctic Barents Sea, our elite force will crisscross the globe to stop an anarchist from unleashing chaos on the world's stage...and to bring home the man who made them a family.
The Fate of the Furious hits theaters on April 14, 2017.
