'Amanda Knox' Trailer: Either She's A Psychopath Or She's One Of Us

The case of Amanda Knox has made headlines around the world as the woman who was studying abroad was convicted of murdering her British roommate Meredith Kercher. Due to the many twists and turns of the case, the media and public around the world absorbed every detail they could about the case, and it's still debated to this very day. Now a new Netflix documentary aims to look at both sides of the story by digging through all the information available.

Amanda Knox debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month, and now it's coming to the streaming service at the end of September. A new trailer shows us some of the talking heads we'll be listening to as they unpack this case all over again, and maybe helping us determine if Amanda Knox is really innocent.

If you've kept up with the details of this case, then you might not find much new on display here. As a review from IndieWire out of TIFF notes, "Despite excellent access to Knox especially, Amanda Knox offers up little new information, an element of the doc that's made all the more noticeable by the occasionally amusing (but mostly unsettling) focus on the media's part in the case. "

However, Variety's praises the documentary and notes that the documentary may not be so much about revealing new information about the case, but rather how the case was handled and impacted by the media, "And that's the key to what makes "Amanda Knox" such a resonant documentary, with a reach far beyond this case. The film captures how the unreality of tabloid journalism has slid through digital portals into the mainstream, becoming part of the toxic air of misinformation that we all now breathe.
