'Me Before You' Trailer: Emilia Clarke & Sam Claflin Keep Pulling At Your Heart Strings

With Game of Thrones back in full swing, fans are happy to have Emilia Clarke back as their Mother of Dragons. But this summer they'll see another side of the British actress as she stars in the tearjerking romance Me Before You, based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Jojo Moyes. No, it isn't a Nicholas Sparks movie, but that doesn't mean it's not full of sappy, cheesy romance.

The story follows a caretaker named Louisa Clark (Clarke) tasked with taking on a paralyzed young banker named Will Traynor (Sam Claflin of The Hunger Games franchise), who is having trouble finding joy in life since an accident put him in a wheelchair a couple years ago. But Clarke's endless charm just might be enough to get him out and about, as evidenced by a new Me Before You trailer that you can see after the jump.

Here's the extended Me Before You trailer from Warner Bros. Pictures:

This trailer is surprisingly almost completely different from the previously released extended trailer from across the pond that debuted about a month ago. The bulk of the trailer focuses on a scene between Louisa and Will as she sits in his lap on the dance floor of an upscale party. The fact that Will calls her Clark feels slightly strange since it's as if he's really talking to Emilia Clarke and not her character.

What I like about this trailer is that it really tones down how aggressively quirky Clarke's character has been portrayed in the previous trailers before. Of course, we know that footage is still in the movie, but hopefully it's not too overwhelming and phony.

Plus, Game of Thrones fans will be happy to see that Charles Dance also stars in this movie, though he appears to be a much better father than he was in the HBO fantasy show. At the very least, he's not trying to kill his son just because he's paralyzed. Surely that wouldn't be the case if this story took place in Westeros.

Me Before You marks the feature debut of Thea Sharrock, working from a script by (500) Days of Summer scribes Michael H. Weber and Scott Neustadter.

Often times you find love where you least expect it. Sometimes it takes you where you never expected to go...

Louisa "Lou" Clark (Clarke) lives in a quaint town in the English countryside. With no clear direction in her life, the quirky and creative 26-year-old goes from one job to the next in order to help her tight-knit family make ends meet.

Her normally cheery outlook is put to the test, however, when she faces her newest career challenge. Taking a job at the local "castle," she becomes caregiver and companion to Will Traynor (Claflin), a wealthy young banker who became wheelchair bound in an accident two years prior, and whose whole world changed dramatically in the blink of an eye. No longer the adventurous soul he once was, the now cynical Will has all but given up. That is until Lou determines to show him that life is worth living. Embarking together on a series of adventures, both Lou and Will get more than they bargained for, and find their lives—and hearts—changing in ways neither one could have imagined.

Me Before You hits theaters on June 3.
