'The Finest Hours' IMAX Trailer: Chris Pine And Casey Affleck Get Really Wet
Next week brings the release of Disney's high seas rescue drama The Finest Hours, and the film is getting a release in IMAX 3D for the most immersive experience possible. The only way it could be more immersive is if the people working at the theater kept dumping buckets of water on you. That way you can be just as wet as Chris Pine and Casey Affleck will be in this movie about what is being called the most daring Coast Guard rescue mission ever. If you need anymore convincing to see the movie, check out a four-minute IMAX trailer for the movie after the jump.
Here's The Finest Hours IMAX trailer straight from the giant screen company:
While this looks like a movie that will have quite the spectacle of visuals to see on the biggest screen possible, the movie also seems like it's far too dark to be a good one to see in 3D. But if the conversion is good enough to make you feel like you could get splashed by the swirling sea at any minute, then maybe it'll be worth the surcharge to your ticket price.
In additon to Pine and Affleck, the rest of the cast includes Eric Bana, Ben Foster, Holliday Grainger and John Ortiz. Director Craig Gillespie is at the helm of the film, and it hits theaters on January 29th. On February 18, 1952, a massive nor'easter struck New England, pummeling towns along the Eastern seaboard and wreaking havoc on the ships caught in its deadly path, including the SS Pendleton, a T-2 oil tanker bound for Boston, which was literally ripped in half, trapping more than 30 sailors inside its rapidly-sinking stern. As the senior officer on board, first assistant engineer Ray Sybert (Casey Affleck) soon realizes it is up to him to take charge of the frightened crew and inspire the men to set aside their differences and work together to ride out one of the worst storms to ever hit the East Coast. Meanwhile, as word of the disaster reaches the U.S. Coast Guard station in Chatham, Massachusetts, Warrant Officer Daniel Cluff (Eric Bana) orders a daring operation to rescue the stranded men. Despite overwhelming odds, four men, led by Coast Guard Captain Bernie Webber (Chris Pine), set out in a wooden lifeboat with an ill-equipped engine and little, if any, means of navigation, facing frigid temperatures, 60-foot high waves and hurricane-force winds.
