Deborah Ann Woll, Vincent D'Onofrio Comment On Daredevil: Born Again Cancellation
"Daredevil: Born Again" was canceled by Disney+ ahead of the release of its third season, and now, two of the show's stars have commented on social media with their feelings on the matter. Deborah Ann Woll and Vincent D'Onofrio have taken to social media (as pointed out by TV Line) to express gratitude and excitement about having worked on the series.
Fans of "Born Again" will know that Woll plays Daredevil's secretary, Karen Page, while D'Onofrio plays the Kingpin, a vicious crime lord and the central villain of the series. After the announcement that "Daredevil: Born Again" was canceled was made public, Vincent D'Onofrio said on his Twitter/X account that:
"We so enjoyed bringing 'Daredevil: Born Again' to you all. You stuck with us, and I like to think we stuck with you.We have the final season, season 3, heading your way next year with some very cool stuff. Much love to all who have been supportive. I love that character, Fisk. Always will.Off to another neck off the woods. Meanwhile... Season 3 is coming!"
"Fisk," of course, is Wilson Fisk, the real name of the Kingpin. D'Onofrio is excellent in the role, capturing the character's rage and violence as well as the bubbling humanity underneath. It was very diplomatic of D'Onofrio to encourage fans to see the upcoming season, rather than merely moping about the show's end. There were no melancholy feelings — at least not in public.
Deborah Ann Woll, meanwhile, expressed gratitude to the many people who have watched the two "Daredevil" TV shows on her Facebook page. She linked to a news announcement of the show's cancelation, and preceded her message with a "sad face" emoji. She wrote, very simply: "Enjoy the last season, guys! We worked really hard on it. Grateful for you."
Vincent D'Onofrio and Deborah Ann Woll acknowledged the end of an era
The original "Daredevil" TV series, which ran on Netflix from 2015 to 2018, was striking at the time. It was part of the world-straddling Marvel Cinematic Universe, but was far more violent than the films it shared a continuity with. Many Marvel Comics fans might have noted that the series took a lot of its tone and story cues from a comic called "Daredevil: The Man Without Fear," authored by the grim-'n'-gritty Frank Miller. Charlie Cox played the title character, a blind lawyer who was gifted with extra-heightened senses. At night, he donned a colorful devil costume and worked as a vigilante.
Although "Daredevil" only lasted three seasons, it garnered enough fans to stick around in the pop consciousness. The title character turned up on shows like "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" and in movies like "Spider-Man: No Way Home." The series was eventually revived as "Daredevil: Born Again," which debuted on Disney+ in 2025. Cox, Woll, and D'Onofrio all returned.
Only a few short seasons later, "Born Again" is also being ushered toward the grave. The eight-episode second season wrapped up in May of 2026, and the third season is scheduled to air in March of 2027.
The third season of "Born Again" will come with some question marks. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the show's previous showrunner, Dario Scardapane, was fired in the midst of post-production, so it's unclear how much the third season will click together with the previous two. We've previously written about the reason "Born Again" was canceled, citing an evolving strategy at Marvel, but time will tell how that strategy will play out.
