Cool Stuff: New They Live Shirts From RSVLTS Are All Out Of Bubble Gum

Even though there are endless amounts of pop culture memorabilia out there, it can be cumbersome holding onto collectibles and merchandise from your favorite movies and TV shows. Space is limited, and shelves get smaller and smaller when collect more and more things. So it's always nice when you find a piece of paraphernalia that doubles as something at least moderately useful. That's where the folks at RSVLTS come in with their stellar assembly of pop culture apparel.

From "Star Wars" and Marvel to "Beetlejuice" and "Godzilla," RSVLTS has a variety of shirts, hoodies, and other gear with incredible designs inspired by some of the most beloved movies and TV shows out there. This week, in keeping with the Halloween spirit, they've unveiled a new line of shirts based on the cult classic "They Live," featuring some of the most iconic imagery from John Carpenter's sci-fi conspiracy action thriller

If you've never seen "They Live," the movie follows wrestler "Rowdy" Roddy Piper as an unnamed drifter who suddenly sees the truth when he discovers a special pair of sunglasses. When he puts on these glasses, he's suddenly able to see that the ruling class are actually aliens disguised as humans who have been manipulating the human race to consume, breed, conform, and generally obey, all by way of subliminal messaging. Even if you've never seen the movie, you've likely seen the horrifying face of the aliens in front of signs telling people to "OBEY" in all caps. Now, you can at least consume willingly by grabbing these "They Live" shirts from RSVLTS. Take a look below!

Formaldehyde-face!

First up, we've got the "Shades of Truth" shirt, which utilizes the sunglasses as a pattern, complete with the grotesque faces of the aliens shown through the lenses of some of them. One says "Consume," another says "Submit," and the other just shows that hideous alien face. Meanwhile, the front of the lenses have a red and blue color scheme, not unlike classic 3D glasses, and the look of old school 3D images is emulated in the design of the shirt too.

Perhaps the best shirt in the line-up is the one titled "All Out of Bubble Gum." This one recreates the plaid shirt that Roddy Piper wears in "They Live," but it gives it a sneaky, subtle touch. If you look closely at navy blue squares on the shirt's design, you can see the faces of the aliens hidden within it.

What would have been particularly cool is if the face revealed itself with a special pair of glasses. But as it stands, using a plaid design that recalls Piper's wardrobe in the movie and hiding the aliens within it is still brilliant.

Finally, we have these two similar shirts, a red one called "Hell to Pay" and a blue one titled "Consume This."

These aren't quite as stylish, and they're a lot less subtle, but the artwork on them is pretty great. Maybe not a shirt you want to wear out to a family event, but you're bound to run into a "They Live" fan who will recite one of Roddy Piper's famous lines to you.

Each of these shirts is made out of a stretchy, sleek Kunuflex material and comes in sizes from XS up to 4XL. They can be yours for $70 each from the RSVLTS online shop.
