Does Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Have A Credit Scene? A Spoiler-Free Guide
Not to overstate the matter or anything, but "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" is easily one of the most anticipated movies coming our way this year. Sure, superhero movies have made more money than 2018's "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," but few of them have had the same level of cultural impact and widespread acclaim. The movie's audience has only grown in the years since the release of the original, making the return of Miles Morales a true must-see for many Marvel fans out there.
Given that this is a Marvel movie we're talking about, one has to wonder what — if any — sort of post-credits scene is attached. We're here to give you the spoiler-free answer to that question so that you can head into the movie opening weekend armed with the knowledge you require to finally take that much-needed bathroom break. Does Across the Spider-Verse have a credits scene?
To get this right out of the way right up top, no. As surprising as it may seem, there is no actual credits scene attached to "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse." No mid-credits scene teeing up the future of the franchise, no post-credits stinger just for fun. Nothing of the sort. "Into the Spider-Verse" included Spider-Man 2099 in a credits scene, and he ended up becoming a central figure in the sequel. That being the case, one might have assumed the follow-up would do something similar. No dice. That said, there is something that happens during the credits that might warrant sitting for a couple of minutes longer.
Teeing up the third Spider-Verse movie
To be clear, there is truly no actual footage played during or after the credits. Those who decide to make a break for the lobby right away won't miss much of anything. That having been said, there is a little bit of text teasing what's to come in the follow-up, but it's right next to nothing and it is both obvious and publicly available information. But for those who really want to squeeze every ounce out of the experience, wait around until the first main chunk of credits concludes. There will be some text cards that come across the screen teeing up next year's sequel, and that will truly be the end of it.
Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson directed the film, with Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and David Callaham penning the screenplay. The cast includes Shameik Moore (Miles Morales), Hailee Steinfeld (Spider-Gwen), Brian Tyree Henry (Jefferson Davis), Luna Lauren Velez (Rio Morales), Jake Johnson (Peter B. Parker), Jason Schwartzman (The Spot), Issa Rae (Spider-Woman), Karan Soni (Spider-Man India), Daniel Kaluuya (Spider-Punk), and Oscar Isaac (Spider-Man 2099).
