Here's How To Watch Knock At The Cabin At Home

Good ol' M. Night Shyamalan. You can always rely on the mind behind "Signs," "Split," and "Servant" (along with various other projects with titles that do not, in fact, begin with the letter "S") to stir the pot for some reason or another. His latest movie, "Knock at the Cabin," is no exception. Depending on who you ask, Shyamalan's feature is either a chilling, disturbing film anchored by an astonishing Dave Bautista performance or yet another baffling and problematic — but never boring — addition to his growing collection of idiosyncratic indie-budget thrillers à la "The Visit" and "Old," if not a little bit of both.

Based on the 2018 novel "The Cabin at the End of the World" by Paul G. Tremblay (who has his own thoughts about Shyamalan's big screen adaptation of his book), "Knock at the Cabin" centers on a family of three — played by Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, and Kristen Cui — who are vacationing at a remote cabin in the forest when four strangers (led by Bautista's physically intimidating yet sensitive Leonard) invade their home and call upon them to make a horrifying choice. If you're curious to find out what all the ruckus is about but haven't been able to watch Shyamalan's thriller in theaters, fear not: You can now catch cabin fever from the comfort of your home instead.

Knock at the Cabin is available on PVOD

"Knock at the Cabin" is now officially available via Premium Video On Demand (PVOD) through several online retailers, including Amazon Prime Video and Vudu. At the time of writing, the movie costs $19.99 to rent and $24.99 to buy, although those prices will drop in the weeks (and months) to come so long as you're willing to wait a little longer. Of course, as is now customary in the era of streaming, you will only "own" your digital copy of the film so long as you maintain your account with the retailer in question.

Bear in mind, "Knock at the Cabin" made the top five at the U.S. box office over the 2023 President's Day weekend and should continue to play in theaters nationwide for at least a few more weeks. In other words, you still have time to check it out on the big screen, in the event you've been holding off on doing so to avoid the larger crowds or simply because the timing hasn't worked out yet. You'll definitely make your buddy M. Night Shyamalan happy if you do.

What about streaming and Blu-ray?

Peacock has confirmed "Knock at the Cabin" will begin streaming on March 24, 2023. Why not sooner? Well, because of its pandemic-era agreement with distributors, Universal is required to give its films a minimum 45-day exclusive theatrical window before adding them to its primary streaming service's library. As such, M. Night Shyamalan's latest movie will be joining the ranks of Peacock's impressive lineup of horror films and thrillers at the earliest possible date.

On the upside, those who've been looking forward to adding Shyamalan's film to their hard copy collection won't have too much longer to wait. Universal has announced the movie will become available to own on digital starting March 24, 2023, prior to hitting Blu-ray and DVD just over a month later on May 9. That's par for the course for the studio, which has gotten in the habit of waiting a few months before making its theatrical releases available in 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD in general.
