So let's dig into Part 4 of the /Film Holiday Gift Guide, which is filled with vinyl soundtracks and artwork!

Superheroes, sci-fi, and fantasy

Music has had a pretty fascinating trajectory since the calendar ticked over to the 2000s. CDs are all but dead, with MP3s and digital music having killed the physical music business. Having thousands of songs in your pocket with an iPod was too attractive to ignore. Then streaming happened, and it's downright difficult to purchase digital music now even if one wanted to — at least compared to how it was a decade or so ago. But the most unpredictable thing? The re-emergence of vinyl has been a blessing for music lovers of all kinds. Records have been selling like gangbusters over the past few years and, for the movie lover in your life, that is a very good thing. Vinyl LPs of great movie soundtracks are released with regularity now, and we've got some incredible ones to choose from this holiday season.

NOTE: Be sure to take a look at the product pages, because some of these are pre-orders that won't ship until 2023.

Superhero Soundtracks

Starting off with the blockbuster behemoths from the superhero genre, we've got a bunch of scores available for your holiday needs. From Michael Giacchino's incredible score to "The Batman" to the hit-filled soundtrack to Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man," the options are aplenty. We've also got some more throwbacks in there, such as the "Man of Steel" soundtrack, or "The Amazing Spider-Man" soundtrack for the Andrew Garfield stan in your life. Giacchino even makes a second appearance for horror fans out there with "Werewolf by Night." A little something for everyone! (Ryan Scott)

Sci-Fi and Fantasy Soundtracks

What is it about sci-fi that sets the entire genre apart from others? The set design? The extensive VFX? The constant tug of war between satisfying genre conventions with some of the most imaginative concepts ever put to screen? The answer, of course, is "all of the above" ... and more. No worthwhile sci-fi blockbuster feels complete without a memorable score that adds its audio power to the grand visuals of otherworldly locales, universal stories, and some of the most bracing social commentary that any genre has to offer. Whether it be something as recent as Hans Zimmer's percussive and pulse-pounding score for Denis Villeneuve's "Dune" adaptation, John Williams' unforgettable contributions to help turn "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" into such a timeless classic, or James Horner's sweeping score for James Cameron's "Avatar" that made the larger-than-life story feel that much more epic, there's something here for every kind of fan. (Jeremy Mathai)

Horror and drama (and a bit of comedy)

Horror Soundtracks

Horror movies often live or die by their scores, as the music showcased throughout a film frequently serves as its own character. The sounds of creeping dread can be essential to building the world of a horror film. In some instances, the sound of a horror movie score is just as effective and enjoyable without having to watch anything happening on screen. Music is such a vital element in crafting all films, but horror especially boasts some of the all-time great movie scores. The sound of a screeching violin can make your hair stand on end and a continuous deep thump of percussion can influence your heartbeat. Fortunately, this year birthed a bevy of fantastic new additions to the horror movie score library, including "The Black Phone," Nia DaCosta's "Candyman," "The Menu," David Bruckner's "Hellraiser," and Jordan Peele's "Nope," all available on vinyl. The latter is especially fantastic, as the gatefold artwork was provided by a teenager Peele found on Instagram. If this year's offerings aren't your style, never fear, as there are plenty of other spine-chilling scores from films of yesteryear that can help fill your home with the beautiful, terrifying sounds of your favorite horror film. (BJ Colangelo)

Drama (and a Bit of Comedy) Soundtracks

A film's soundtrack is often a huge part of what makes it a classic. Just try and imagine "Field of Dreams" without James Horner's heartstring-tugging music or "The Last of the Mohicans" without Trevor Jones and Randy Edelman's sweeping orchestrations. Then there are movie musicals like "West Side Story," where Leonard Bernstein's music and Stephen Sondheim's lyrics are as timeless as the imagery of the Jets and Sharks snapping their fingers as they pirouette their way through the streets of New York City. But it's not just original music that gives films their power. The hip-hop and rap tunes on the soundtrack for "Hustle" infuse Adam Sandler's basketball dramedy with much of its live wire energy. And what would "The Royal Tenenbaums" be without its vintage folk-pop songs or the "Sister Act" films without their Motown hits? "Tar" is given so much power due to the orchestral music at its center. You can pick up all these (and much more) on vinyl right now. (Sandy Schaefer)

Action and animation

Action Soundtracks

If you've ever seen "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," then you already know Marvin Gaye's soundtrack for Ivan Dixon's 1972 Blaxploitation flick "Trouble Man" is a quintessential piece of pop culture (assuming you haven't also watched Dixon's film itself). Of course, it's far from the only enticing action movie soundtrack you can pick up on vinyl this holiday season. Anything and everything you could think to do at home will be 100 percent more exciting if you've got John Powell's pulse-quickening soundtrack for "The Bourne Identity" to listen to. Or maybe you'd prefer to feel mysterious and suave doing household chores to the sound of Thomas Newman's thrilling "Skyfall" soundtrack. There's also the music of "Top Gun: Maverick" to get you mentally soaring in the danger zone from the comfort of your house. And what better way to liven things up than snagging Son Lux's whirlwind compositions for "Everything Everywhere All at Once?" (Sandy Schaefer)

Animated Soundtracks

Animated features have a tendency towards musicality, and some of the best soundtracks out there come from the world of animation. There are a ton of great vinyl releases for every fan of cartoons and listening to tunes, from the orchestral sounds of the "Bambi" soundtrack to the 1990s MTV mix-tape of "Beavis and Butt-Head Do America." One of the most fun and creative releases is a "4-Town" vinyl, featuring the songs of the fictional boy band from Disney and Pixar's "Turning Red." Real merchandise for a fake band is really inventive, and the songs like "U Know What's Up" and "Nobody Like U" are genuine bops. Pick this one up for your favorite preteen or inner preteen and get ready to shake your tail! (Danielle Ryan)

Television, Holidays, Musicals, and More

TV Soundtracks

Admit it: Music sounds so much crisper, clearer, and just better overall on vinyl. This goes doubly so for the instrumental soundtracks of your favorite television shows, as they will truly make you feel like you're immersed in your favorite shows. If you're looking for the next best vinyl to get your music-loving friends, we've got you covered. You can choose between Bear McCreary's luscious "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" score or Joseph Trapanese's epic compositions from the second season of "The Witcher." You can even gift pre-orders for Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein's upcoming vinyl releases of the complete "Stranger Things 4" soundtrack. (Erin Brady)

Holiday Soundtracks

It's the holiday season, so there's no better time to gift soundtracks to some festive movies and a holiday special. Keep things chilling with the "Krampus" score composed by Douglas Pipes ("Trick 'R Treat"), or get cheery in a Charles Dickens fashion with the music from "A Muppet Christmas Carol," including the broken-hearted ballad "When Love Is Gone," performed by Scrooge's lost love and even a bonus a version by the acclaimed artist Martina McBride. Or you can really get in the holiday musical spirit with the soundtrack for "Zoey's Extraordinary Christmas." (Ethan Anderton)

Movies Turned into Musicals

Turning movies into musicals is all the rage lately, and here are the soundtracks for some of the more recent hit stage productions adding some Broadway flair to some beloved films. With such a focus on original songs, the "Once" soundtrack wonderfully expands the music from the indie darling that introduced us to Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová. Meanwhile, the rock-based "Almost Famous" has the task of creating a bunch of songs for the Cameron Crowe movie without relying on the familiar soundtrack of rock favorites. Finally, you can go back in time with the musical soundtrack for the stage production of "Back to the Future" starring Roger Bart as Doc Brown. (Ethan Anderton)

Everything Else

Here are a handful of soundtracks that aren't exactly from movies or TV shows, but they're adjacent to some familiar titles or names. First, there's the soundtrack to the "Guardians of the Galaxy" video game from last year, which features both music from the fictional '80s heavy metal group Star-Lord Band and the video game score composed by Richard Jacques. The retro arcade music of NYC-based chiptune punk band Anamanaguchi makes the "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" arcade-style game a lot of fun. And there's a tribute to the legendary John Carpenter, combining some of his best musical atmospheres with guests like Claudio Simonetti (Goblin), Leather Strip, Motion Kapture, Ketvector, as well as artists of the New Retro Wave scene such as Code Elektro, Tibia, and Simulakrum Lab. (Ethan Anderton)

The Office gets in the Christmas spirit

It's Christmastime, and the crew at Dunder Mifflin certainly know how to do a holiday party with both style and chaos. This print by artist Matthew Brazier crams in an incredible amount of Easter eggs for longtime fans of "The Office," all of them inspired by the various Christmas episodes over the years. Get it at Gallery 1988 while supplies last.

Stunning artwork across cinema

"The Mummy" and "Romancing the Stone"

Taking a cue from classic monster movies and grocery store romance novels, we have two prints for "The Mummy" and "Romancing the Stone," two films that bring classic adventure to life in different ways. Nate Gonzales' print for the Brendan Fraser vehicle is inspired by the movie posters that used to adorn beautiful movie houses so many decades ago. Meanwhile, Nick Charge's "Romancing the Stone" print has the hazy, illustrated look of a novel that will get things steamy for your mother or aunt.

"A Nightmare on Elm Street" and "The Lighthouse"

On the more twisted side of cinematic imagery, we've got these posters for "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and "The Lighthouse." Freddy Krueger's sharp, gloved hand is made gigantic in Adam Rabalais' poster design that takes a cue from the famous "Jaws" poster. Meanwhile, "The Lighthouse" is almost made sentient in Melvin's Mago's print, which gives the titular location a coat and hat, complete with an ominous seagull perched on the head and the tentacles of an octopus wrapping around its shoulders.

"Scream" and "The Exorcist"

It's an excellent day for an exorcism in Rich Davies' poster for the classic horror film "The Exorcist," which finds the priest climbing the stairs that will lead him to quite the horrifying experience. But that's not all that Davies has for horror fans, because he's also put together a more traditional poster for the original "Scream," assembling all of the key cast members around the signature Ghostface killer.

"Mission: Impossible" and "Predator"

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to grab this print for the original 1996 "Mission: Impossible" movie. Artist Yvan Quinet's print for the action blockbuster brings together the Impossible Mission Force on top of a file inspired by the computer files seen in the then-timely technology. Thankfully, there's no Jon Voight to be seen, but Henry Czerny as Kittridge makes a little appearance. On the other hand, you could take on a different kind of mission by picking up this muddy print for "Predator" by artist Chris Koehler. C'mon! Do it now!

"The Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Batman Returns"

Now is a good time to remind you that Tim Burton didn't direct "The Nightmare Before Christmas." Though it's very much based on a story idea by Burton and he also produced the movie, it's actually stop-motion master Henry Selick who brought this movie to life. This print by Jeff Kepler (aka Seventh Voyage) features Jack Skellington (and his trusty ghost dog Zero) in all his Sandy Claws glory before he eventually gets blasted out of the sky by the authorities. However, Tim Burton did give us another fantastic Christmas movie in the DC Comics sequel "Batman Returns," and Catwoman takes the spotlight in this fantastic composition of illustrations from artist Rich Davies.

"Kill Bill" in the style of "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Evil Dead"

Wow! Who would have thought that both volumes of Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill" could be perfectly represented with remixed posters of horror classics? Inspired by "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Evil Dead," these two prints by Chris Koehler and Benedict Woodhead (respectively) take memorable scenes from "Kill Bill" and perfectly repurpose them with similar imagery from those original horror posters. This is exactly the kind of movie mash-up art that I love. Get them together as a set or buy them individually as Vol. 1 and Vol. 2.

"X-Men: The Animated Series" and "Jurassic Park"

Let's take a turn into the realm of comic books. First, Julien Rico Jr. has delivered a bright and colorful print featuring the '90s animated mutants from "X-Men: The Animated Series." For me, this is the definitive version of the X-Men, and this is a great tribute to the main roster of characters. Then we have some artistic liberties taken with "Jurassic Park" by turning the blockbuster Steven Spielberg film into an old school "Weird Science" comic book, created by artist Danny Schlitz.

"Weird: The Al Yankovic Story" and "The Wizard of Oz"

We're not in Kansas anymore. Things are getting weird, especially with these prints for "Weird: The Al Yankovic Story" and the all-time great classic "The Wizard of Oz." The Mondo print for the Weird Al movie from artist JJ Harrison recreates a scene from the parody movie that's actually based on Yankovic's real life, where he recorded his first song in a public bathroom. Meanwhile, Ape Meets Girl's print combines the classic sepia tone of Kansas with the technicolor of Oz, as Dorothy steps out from her transported farmhouse into a magical but dangerous world.

Grover and Kermit and Vincent Price

In these adorable prints, a couple familiar Muppets share a moment with two very different counterparts. Glen Brogan's print imagines Grover as an aged author signing copies of the classic "Sesame Street" book "The Monster at the End of This Book." Meanwhile, Barret Chapman's artwork celebrates a moment from "The Muppet Show" where Kermit the Frog and horror legend Vincent Price pretend to be vampires.

The magic of Harry Potter

Ape Meets Girl's Harry Potter Poster Series

For the Harry Potter fan in your life, there are a few artwork options that will make for great gifts. Ape Meets Girl has an ongoing series where he's given a print to each movie from the blockbuster film adaptations. He's already made it up to "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part I," so you'll have to dig back into the Hero Complex Gallery archives to get the previous installments. However, it appears "Sorcerer's Stone" and "Prisoner of Azkaban" may have to be tracked down on the secondary market.

Mark Bell's Harry Potter Poster Series

Meanwhile, it's a bit easier to catch up with Mark Bell's Harry Potter poster series. With artwork that's a little more stylized like illustrations from a book, Mark Bell's prints prominently feature the lightning bolt shape that has defined Harry Potter iconography. All three of these are still available to buy at Hero Complex Gallery.

It's an action bonanza!

"Raiders of the Lost Ark"

"That belongs in a museum." Indiana Jones is always on the hunt for spectacular artifacts, and many of those artifacts deserve to be preserved in pop culture. That's exactly what artist Robin Springett does with this print. Along with Indy's hat and whip, you'll noticed some familiar items from "Raiders of the Lost Ark," including some bad dates. What's great about this print is it's actually just one in a series of prints with the same style. If you head over to Hero Complex Gallery, you'll find other prints like this for movies like "Blade Runner," "Pulp Fiction," "Star Wars" and "Casino Royale."

"Top Gun"

It might be a simple design, but this "Top Gun" print by Dave O'Flanagan perfectly captures the sunset vibe of the high-flying classic from 1986. The poster manages to fit in a jet, a shirtless Val Kilmer with a volleyball, and Tom Cruise speeding on his motorcycle, and even if it features the less desirable floating head design, I consider this a win.

The Batmobile

If Michael Keaton is your Batman, then this is your Batmobile, and it's speeding towards a face-off with The Joker. Derek Payne created this piece, which pays tribute to the 1989 version of the Dark Knight's ride from Tim Burton's "Batman." It almost has an anime quality to it, with the lines of color flying in the background, giving the vehicle a tremendous amount of speed.

"Last Action Hero"

One of the most famous paintings in the world is "Nighthawks" by Edward Hopper, and even if you think you've never seen it before, the artwork above should refresh your memory of what it roughly looks like. However, this is a pop culture remix of the painting, featuring the characters of "Last Action Hero." In fact, this print by artist Casey Callender is just one of many that put a cinematic spin on the "Nighthawks" painting. If you go to Hero Complex Gallery, you'll find a bunch of different versions inspired by the likes of "Jurassic Park," "Top Gun," "The Iron Giant," "The Matrix," "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," and many more.

Let's get animated

"Soul"

If you're a Disney fan, Shop Disney has quite an assortment of artwork, ranging from affordable prints to extremely expensive pieces. This stylized work by Jim Salvati celebrates the jazz of "Soul" with a design that feels like it perfectly embodies the spirit of the music at the center of the existential animated adventure.

"Up"

In the picturesque landscape category, we have this stunning sunset from Pixar's "Up" as painted by Rodel Gonzalez. The glow of the sun shining on Carl's floating house as it moves along Paradise Falls is simply stunning, and it would make for quite the centerpiece in a house of travelers and Disney fans.

"Robin Hood"

The love of Robin Hood and Maid Marian has never looked more lovely as the two foxes embrace in the night light of a glowing moon and flickering fireflies, as created by artist Rob Kaz. It's a proposal worthy of a classic storybook, and that makes it perfect for placement on any Disney fan's wall.

"ParaNorman"

Shifting from Disney, we have the more twisted stop-motion animation of "ParaNorman," from the geniuses at LAIKA. Our main characters are caught up in the swirling chaos of the paranormal as glowing green hands reach for their terrified faces. You can get this one at Mondo right now

Whether it's the unfortunate reveal of the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and their "Ninja Rap" from "The Secret of the Ooze," the sympathetic story of The Penguin forgiving the parents who abandoned him in "Batman Returns," or the Wet Bandits escaping during a prison riot in "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York," there are ton of newspaper headlines from a bunch of movies.

You'll also find magazine covers, propaganda posters, and a bunch more artwork from films of all kinds at the Etsy shop.
