Vin Diesel Talks About Voicing Groot In 'Guardians Of The Galaxy'

Sorry to anyone out there holding out hope the whole Vin Diesel voicing the talking tree Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy thing wasn't true. It is. The actor spoke to the Los Angeles Times about the role, all but confirming that we'll hear Diesel's iconic voice saying "I am Groot" come August 1, 2014. Read his quotes below.

Thanks to the LA Times for these quotes. Here's Diesel's answer to the question, "Why Groot?"

They talked about the secrecy surrounding the film, Diesel's use of social media and more before bringing up the fact the film is reportedly about halfway done shooting. Diesel was asked when he might join the team:

That's the thing — I'm so busy. The audience wanted Vin and Marvel, Vin and Marvel. But I'm too busy to do a six-month role. So what Marvel came up with was really interesting. ... I am watching a social wave influence and in some ways guide their thinking.
