'The Avengers' Trailer #2: Team Strife, And A World In Danger

We've joked in the past couple months about the fact that Marvel's choice of early stills for The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon and starring Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, have been fairly dry. We've learned more about the movie from box art for licensed products than we have from the stills and footage released so far.

That changes today with the release of a new trailer for The Avengers. Check it out below.

The embed below is the official from Disney, but it may not yet work in all territories. There's a YouTube version below that as a backup.

Apple has the HD version.

While I imagine that people still want to see a lot more of the enemy force that Loki (Tom Hiddleston) has assembled, I'm actually happy to see all the conflict among the team. That was always such a core component of comic stories featuring The Avengers, and the way Whedon has put the strife on screen looks just about right.

Also, in case you missed the mention yesterday in Superhero Bits, UK audiences will see the film as Avengers Assemble. Marvel evidently did a little market research and determined that there was some confusion brewing with the classic TV series The Avengers, so a title change went into effect. Wouldn't want people thinking this was a re-release of the 1998 film with Ralph Fiennes, Uma Thurman and Sean Connery, would they? Empire had that info, and provides the new UK poster seen below:

Finally, here's a clip from Entertainment Tonight that teased the trailer last night, but also features some behind the scenes clips and interviews:
