A new movie every week. That’s the promise Netflix is making heading into 2021 as studio releases dry up and theaters remain closed. But things are popping over at the streaming giant, which has just released its Netflix 2021 films preview, announcing a whopping 70 movies (with possibly more to come), including spy epics like the Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot-starring Red Notice, sequels like To All The Boys: Always and Foreverand star-studded prestige dramas like the Leonardo DiCaprio-Jennifer Lawrence film Don’t Look Up. The latest: Chris Evans, former Captain America, and accidental dick-pic leaker, is joining Leonardo DiCaprioJennifer LawrenceMeryl Streep, and more in the Netflix dark comedy about “two low-level astronomers who embark on a media tour to warn mankind of an approaching asteroid that will destroy Earth.” DiCaprio and Lawrence are apparently playing the astronomers and Streep is the President of the United States, but there’s no info on Evans’ part just yet.

The story follows two astronomers trying to warn everyone that an asteroid is headed right towards Earth, and now we know who Streep is playing in this scenario: the President of the United States. They’re all on board Don’t Look Up, a Netflix comedy from Adam McKay. Lawrence was already locked down for the project, and Blacnehtt and Morgan were previously announced as joining the cast. But now the cast has officially gotten even larger.

Jennifer Lawrence will star in Adam McKay‘s Don’t Look Up, a new Netflix comedy set to arrive later this year. In the film, “an asteroid is approaching Earth and it’s up to two low-level astronomers to go on a massive media tour to warn the rest of mankind.” It will mark McKay’s film first directing gig since Vice, and Lawrence’s first lead role since 2018’s Red Sparrow (Dark Phoenix doesn’t count, folks; Lawrence wasn’t the lead in that).
