If you thought Pitch Perfect 3 was the last time the Barden Bellas would get back together make some aca-awesome a cappella music with their mouths, think again.
As the musical competition circuit announcers John Smith (John Michael Higgins) and Gail Abernathy-McKadden-Feinberger (Elizabeth Banks) so succinctly put it, “It seems that not even a quarantine could keep them from harassing us with another musical performance.” The Barden Bellas from across all three of the Pitch Perfect movies have gotten back together virtually, including Anna Kendrick and Hailee Steinfeld, to perform Beyoncé’s 2011 hit “Love On Top,” and it’s all for charity. Prank Sinatra has done it again. He’s fooled us into thinking that this isn’t actually a New Girl sequel where Winston and Allie are doing some weird roleplay, in which she is a sad, desperate single and he’s an aloof blind date. But that seems to be all there is to Desperados, a new Netflix comedy starring Nasim Pedrad. Pedrad stars as the aforementioned sad, desperate single woman who meets her dream man (Robbie Amell) but sends him a drunk, rude email after he disappears on her for five days. When she realizes her mistake, she flies to Mexico to engage in some classic rom-com hijinks and brings a bad blind date (Pedrad’s New Girl love interest Lamorne Morris) into it. Watch the Desperados trailer below.

This weekend brings Pitch Perfect 3 to theaters, offering a different kind of musical opposite Hugh Jackman’s circus extravaganza in The Greatest Showman. So just in case you haven’t seen the first two installments of the a capella franchise, Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Chrissie Fit, Hana Mae Lee, and Ester Dean took the time to run through both Pitch Perfect movies in under seven minutes. It’s not as fun musically, but it’s a good way to catch up for anyone who has a friend dragging them to the final performance of the Bellas.

Are all you pitches ready for one last round with the Bellas?
The first Pitch Perfect 3 trailer arrived online this weekend, giving us a much better idea of what the a capella group featuring Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp and more are up to for what appears to be their third and final outing together. All of the Bellas have graduated college now (well, almost all), and they’re having some trouble getting jobs and staying motivated.
Desperate for some semblance of purpose, the Bellas decide to get together for an overseas USO tour that apparently also doubles as some kind of competition. But this is the first time the Bellas will be facing musical groups who don’t just make music with their mouths. So how is that going to turn out? Watch the Pitch Perfect 3 trailer below to find out. One indie film that’s mostly flown under the radar is Goodbye to All That, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival this past spring. But judging by the first trailer, it may be time to give this one a closer look.
Goodbye to All That is the directorial debut of Angus MacLachlan, screenwriter of the remarkable Junebug. Paul Schneider stars as a newly divorced dad trying to navigate the single life for the first time in years. Okay, so the premise sounds a bit familiar, but the execution looks far above average thanks to MacLachlan’s warm, honest approach and engaging performances all around. Watch the first Goodbye to All That trailer after the jump.

As usual, the MTV Movie Awards this year were pretty uneventful. The best bit happened right at the beginning when host Rebel Wilson got the majority of her Pitch Perfect co-stars to do an a capella opening. Yup, that’s right, the Barden Bellas and Treblemakers hit the MTV stage Sunday night to sing a medley of popular hits including Macklemore’s Thrift Shop, Eminem’s Lose Yourself and more.
Fans of the awesome 2012 film should really enjoy this. I know I did. Check it out below. Read More »
