New 'Star Wars' Anthology Will Explore Untold Stories Of 'A New Hope' Characters

Earlier this week, a mysterious hashtag popped up online teasing something exciting having to do with Star Wars. The details behind #OperationBlueMilk have now been revealed, as Disney will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the saga with new stories centering on the weird background characters of the series.

Here's the basic set-up: 40 stories written by dozens of writers, including Rouge One screenwriter Gary Whitta, famed comic book writer Paul Dini, Thrilling Adventure Hour creators Ben Acker & Ben Blacker, and more will soon be collected in one book. Get the details and the full list of authors below!

STAR WARS: FROM A CERTAIN POINT OF VIEW

Today, Del Rey Publishing has announced they will release a new Star Wars short story collection titled Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View that will tell stories of all the "cool, weird, and really weird background characters." I'm not sure there is any character in A New Hope that doesn't already have some stories written about them, but most of those tales have probably been relegated to Legends at this point.

The book will be released in October 2017 as part of the celebration of Star Wars' 40th anniversary. The book will consist of 40 stories and each will be told from the perspective of background characters from A New Hope  – "from X-wing pilots who helped Luke destroy the Death Star to the stormtroopers who never quite could find the droids they were looking for." It seems like a fun way to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the galaxy far, far way.
