Sony Launches 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' Viral Site

Mouth Taped Shut, The Tumblr set up to give The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo fans a look into the production of David Fincher's film, has offered up another little puzzle. The most recent image posted to the site shows Trent Reznor, seemingly at work scoring the film. But there is a suspiciously noticeable space on the screen in the left side of the image. Turns out that's the first link to a new promo/viral website for the film.

The site hinted at in the new post is ComesForthintheThaw.com, and all you'll find at the page right now is a bit of text, "what is hidden in snow, comes forth in the thaw," a bit of music, and an image of a house. The picture might show the cabin that Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara) and Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig) use as their home base during much of the story, or the structure could be another location entirely.

Leave the window featuring that image open, however, and the 'ice' covering the picture will steadily thaw. You'll hear more sound effects — is that tape being pulled? — and some snippets of dialogue. Eventually the ice comes back, and in the new winter cycle the image changes to a street scene outside Millennium, the magazine run by Blomkvist. Watch long enough and I expect you might see some cycles of freezing and thaw that reveal other images.
