'Search Party' Season 4 Trailer Is All About Finding Dory

Cult hit Search Party has found a comfy home at HBO Max, where it aired its third season after two seasons on TBS, and is soon set to air a fourth. But the comedy-thriller series isn't relaxing into a routine, shaking things up for season 4 by kicking off a plot in which Alia Shawkat's Dory, the leader of a group of hip millennials who get involved in various mysteries, gets kidnapped herself. Search Party season 4 then becomes about...finding Dory. Get it?
The Search Party season 4 trailer shows the surprisingly high-stakes plot, as Dory is held captive in a creepy torture dungeon by her psychotic stalker Chip (Cole Escola), while her friends (Meredith Hagner, John Early, John Reynolds) attempt to find her. But without their stalwart leader, they find themselves losing steam fast. The trailer also gives us a glimpse at the season's big guest stars which include the likes of Susan Sarandon, Busy Philipps, and Ann Dowd.

Here is the synopsis for Search Party season 4:
In SEARCH PARTY season four, Dory (Alia Shawkat) is held prisoner by her psychotic stalker Chip (Cole Escola), who is determined to make Dory believe that they are best friends. Meanwhile, Portia (Meredith Hagner) is starring in a film about the trial, although not as herself; Elliott (John Early) has switched party lines to become a far-right conservative talk show host; and Drew (John Reynolds) is trying to escape his dark past by working as a costumed cast member in a theme park. As the friends begin to connect the dots that Dory might not be touring Europe as her faked social media suggests, they must decide whether to put their traumatic pasts behind them and once again become a search party – but this time, for Dory.
Search Party season 4 premieres on Thursday, January 14, 2021 with three episodes. The season continues with another three episodes on January 21 and the final four episodes drop on January 28.
