Paramount And Bad Robot Hire Rising Director Julius Onah For Sci-Fi Thriller 'God Particle'

Briefly: Paramount and Bad Robot continue to plan one film after another, and the latest effort is God Particle. The picture will be part of the low-budget Insurge label — the division of Paramount started in the wake of Paranormal Activity's success — and the companies have now chosen a director. Julius Onah, who has made a handful of short films and the feature The Girl is in Trouble. His project Big Man, which is part of Focus Features' Africa First program, sounds like something I'd like to see.Big Man is a drama, but God Particle has a sci-fi thriller bent. It follows "an American space station crew left abandoned after a problem with a Hadron accelerator causes Earth to vanish entirely." It was written by Oren Uziel, and J.J. Abrams is producing. That fact means that the film will probably be pretty low-profile until Onah has finished it.

Onah's short Don't Look Back — shot entirely on a phone — is after the break.
