'Lightningface' Trailer: Oscar Isaac Is Kind Of Freaking Out In This Short Film

Ever heard of a movie called Revenge for Jolly!? If you have seen it, you'd probably remember, not only because it's about a man trying to find out who's behind his dog's mysterious death, but mainly because the film stars Oscar IsaacKristen WiigElijah WoodKevin CorriganRyan Phillippe, Garrett DillahuntAmy SeimetzBobby MonyihanAdam BrodyGillian Jacobsand the film's screenwriter, Brian Petsos. Great cast, right? Who wouldn't want to see all of those actors come together in the same movie?

Well, despite such an impressive ensemble, Revenge for Jolly! flew way under the radar back in 2012, and it wasn't reviewed very kindly, either. Four years later, actor/screenwriter Brian Petsos and Oscar Isaac have reunited for a new short film, Lightningface.

Watch the Lighningface trailer below.

Petsos is an actor, writer, and director. He's appeared in films such as Bridesmaids and Girl Most Likely, and he even played the role of "dude" in MacGruber. The director's previous short film, Ticky Tacky, also starred Oscar Isaac. Lightningface marks their third collaboration to date.

A trailer has been released for the short, and it shows a slightly different side of Isaac. The plan is for Lightningface, which also features Kristen Wiig, to premiere at a film festival sometime in the next year.

Here's the Lightningface trailer (via Indiewire):

Apparently Isaac really enjoys letting loose when he's working with Petsos, because Lightningface, like Ticky Tacky, shows him acting at his goofiest. There's no question Isaac has chops as a comedic performer. The laughs in Ex Machina and Inside Llewyn Davis are a little more subdued, but he has some wildly funny moments in those movies. In Ex Machina, when Isaac tears up the dance floor, it's both surreal and comical.

In the opening scene of Ticky Tacky, the actor's character discusses with a young man the sheer joy a donut brings him. Isaac plays the scene with total sincerity, making the exchange even funnier. I won't spoil the rest of the short, in case you want to check it out for yourself below, but Isaac is genuinely funny in it.

Here's the brief synopsis for the "origin story, of sorts," Lightningface:

An origin story, of sorts—LIGHTNINGFACE stars Oscar Isaac as Basil Stitt, who in the aftermath of an inexplicable incident, decides to sequester himself inside his apartment, setting the stage for a profound transformation. Written & directed by Brian Petsos.
