'The Legacy Of A Whitetail Deer Hunter' Trailer: The Summer Of Josh Brolin Continues

The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter Trailer
Here's a fun game: take a shot every time someone says "whitetail deer" in this trailer. You'll be blotto in no time! In The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter, Josh Brolin plays Buck Ferguson, the host of a hunting show who "plans a special episode of his hunting show around a bonding weekend with his estranged son, Jaden (Montana Jordan). With trusted – but hapless – cameraman and friend Don (Danny McBride) in tow, Buck sets out for what soon becomes an unexpectedly epic adventure of father-son reconnection in the great outdoors."
Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter is a reunion for the team of Jody Hill and Danny McBride. The film is helmed by Hill, director of Observe and Report and the HBO shows Eastbound and Down and Vice Principals. And the script was penned by Hill, Vice Principals writer John Carcieri and co-star McBride. That's a pretty damn impressive lineup of funny people who have previously produced very funny things. And the footage in this trailer looks amusing.
That said, the early buzz on Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter isn't great. The film is currently sitting at an embarrassing 17% on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics saying things like, "There are some real missed opportunities here," and: "The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter is definitely the worst film Hill and McBride have made together, but if you're a longtime fan, there's still plenty to giggle at here."
Our own Jacob Hall saw the film at SXSW, and was equally unimpressed.

Of course, as is the case with all films, you should make up your own mind. Maybe you, dear reader, will find plenty to love about this film. At the very least, it's yet another showcase for Brolin, who has appeared in Avengers: Infinity War, Deadpool 2 and Sicario: Day of the Soldado in the last few months. He's a busy fellow. Also: Carrie Coon and Scoot McNairy are both in this, and they're both pretty swell!
