Cool Stuff: Gallery 1988's 'Versus' Art Show Pits Tom Whalen Against Dave Perillo

This past weekend Gallery 1988 unveiled a whole new show titled Versus. As you might have guessed, the show features pieces that depict some of the biggest rivalries in film, television and video games. However, this show was made all the more interesting by having artists Tom Whalen and Dave Perillo take shots at each other leading up to the show. But in the end, the two artists with a similar style and a penchant for pop culture teamed up to deliver some fantastic and affordable artwork featuring some of your favorite characters.

As you can see, the rivalries of The Karate Kid, Batman Returns, Gremlins, Jaws, Star Wars, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Alien, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Jurassic Park, Stranger Things, It and Looney Tunes are featured. But there are plenty more pieces featuring other characters from pop culture, including video games, over at Gallery 1988's website.

These are two-print sets, one for each character, each measuring 4x4. What's great about these prints is that they're also extremely affordable. Each of the sets costs only $18. As for the edition sizes, Tom Whalen's print sets have an edition of 50 while Dave Perillo's only have an edition of 40.

This is some of the most affordable art ever offered from Gallery 1988. However, you'll want to act fast to get your hands on these. A few of them are already sold out, but there are still plenty available for you to have shipped to your home and framed on your wall. See what's still available for sale at Gallery 1988.
