First Look: Set Photos From 'Sherlock Holmes 2'

NO PHOTO

Cameras have started rolling on Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes 2. Want proof? How about photos from the set of Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, together again, as Sherlock and Watson. The sequel, which also stars Noomi Rapace, Jared Harris and Stephen Fry, is scheduled for release December 16, 2011. Check out the photos after the jump.

These photos, which were taken in London on Monday October 18, come to us via JustJared. Visit that site. And yes, that's Guy Ritchie sporting a sharp purple sweater on the set. You go, Guy.

December is usually a great month for movies but outside of Tron: Legacy and True Grit, December 2010 is kind of weak. Next December though, when Sherlock Holmes 2 is scheduled to hit the big screen, is insane. According to Box Office Mojo, December 9 has the Martin Scorsese 3D family adaptation Hugo Cabaret and the romantic comedy New Year's Eve, the following week has Holmes 2 against Alvin and the Chipmunks 3D and Brad Bird's Mission: Impossible 4, and the week after that is Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, Jason Segel's untitled Muppet movie, David Fincher's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo remake and maybe even the new Cameron Crowe film, We Bought a Zoo.

I bring this up because, first of all, it's awesome, but second of all, I'm curious how everyone thinks Sherlock Holmes 2 will fare in that pack. The first film faced similar competition and fared very well, raking in $62 million on its opening weekend, but 2011 seems even tougher. Do you feel Sherlock Holmes 2 will be able to steal enough of the family and action audience it's aiming for with similar films like Tintin and M:I4 being released around it? Or do you feel like some of the films buckle and move? Either way, December 2011 is going to be one fantastic box office battle royale.
