POTD: Colin Trevorrow Teases 'Jurassic World' Dinosaurs

Last week, official images of the humans in Jurassic World were released. And sure, it was cool seeing Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in that world. Fans, however, really just want to see some dinosaurs. That reveal is probably at least a few months away, as filming is still underway and many of the dinosaurs are sure to be computer-generated.

But not all of them will be. Director Colin Trevorrow took to Twitter to tease a look at a Jurassic World dinosaur and you can see the image below.

Here's the image Trevorrow teased:

And the Tweet.

"Nights" is a nice way to describe the silhouette the light puts on a massive dino jaw with pretty rigid, sharp teeth. Could this be the new, evil dinosaur we've been hearing so much about? Here's how Trevorrow described it to us:

Yes, there will be one new dinosaur created by the park's geneticists. The gaps in her sequence were filled with DNA from other species, much like the genome in the first film was completed with frog DNA. This creation exists to fulfill a corporate mandate—they want something bigger, louder, with more teeth. And that's what they get.I know the idea of a modified dinosaur put a lot of fans on red alert, and I understand it. But we aren't doing anything here that Crichton didn't suggest in his novels. This animal is not a mutant freak. It doesn't have a snake's head or octopus tentacles. It's a dinosaur, created in the same way the others were, but now the genetics have gone to the next level. For me, it's a natural evolution of the technology introduced in the first film. Maybe it sounds crazy, but most of my favorite movies sound crazy when you describe them in a single sentence.

Certainly seems like that photo could be one of the Jurassic World dinosaurs. Maybe we'll find out soon, maybe we'll find out at Comic-Con, or maybe we won't find out until June 12, 2015 when Jurassic World hits theaters. What do you think?

Jurassic World, directed by Colin Trevorrow, stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins, Judy Greer, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, Vincent D'Onofrio, Irrfan Khan and BD Wong.
