Black Widow Gets A 'Captain America 2' Featurette; Kevin Feige Talks Solo Film

Marvel fans have been clamoring for a Black Widow standalone film for some time now, and at a recent press conference Kevin Feige assured them that the long-gestating project was still in the works. "We've got various outlines and ideas of where to take that," he revealed.

Until those plans solidify, though, Black Widow devotees can take comfort in the fact that the ass-kicking S.H.I.E.L.D. agent has her biggest role yet in the next Marvel release. Hit the jump to watch a new Captain America: The Winter Soldier featurette that's all about the Black Widow, and to read Feige's comments on her eventual solo outing.

Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow is neither Captain America nor the Winter Soldier, so there's a limit to how prominent she can be in a film called Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Still, we're excited to get to know this mysterious heroine better — and so is Feige. Coming Soon caught him talking about the rumored Black Widow movie.

I think the idea would be great. We've got various outlines and ideas of where to take that. As Scarlett already said, there's a big element that explores her back story in an upcoming Marvel feature. The question really is, 'When will we take her out of the ensemble and have her do her own thing?' As you saw in ['Captain America: The Winter Soldier'], as you'll see in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron', she's really the key to so much of the plot development.

Fingers crossed that it gets going sooner rather than later. Until then, check her out in Captain America: The Winter Soldier on April 4 and Avengers: Age of Ultron on May 1, 2015.

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy — the Winter Soldier.
