I Saw The TV Glow: Everything We Know About The Latest A24 Horror Movie

A24 and Fruit Tree Productions have added several new cast members for the upcoming thriller with the intriguing title of "I Saw the TV Glow." This project comes to us from writer and producer Jane Schoenbrun ("We're All Going to the World's Fair," "A Self-Induced Hallucination"). If "Poltergeist" and "The Ring" made you fear your television and VHS player, you're going to find the synopsis intriguing. That goes double if you love horror television.

The cast isn't just populated with actors, but a bunch of musicians as well, including Fred Durst, indie artist Lindsey Jordan from Snail Mail, the band King Woman, and more.

If Fruit Tree Productions sounds familiar, it's the banner started by Academy Award-winner Emma Stone and Emmy-nominated writer-director Dave McCary in 2020.

The film has wrapped production already, though there has been no release date announcement yet. We'll keep you updated as that information becomes available.

What we know about the cast and crew of I Saw the TV Glow

The cast for "I Saw the TV Glow" includes Justice Smith ("The Get Down," "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom"), Brigette Lundy-Paine ("Atypical"), Helena Howard ("Madeline's Madeline"), the aforementioned musician Lindsey Jordan from Snail Mail, musician/director Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit, Danielle Deadwyler ("Station Eleven"), and Haley Dahl's Sloppy Jane (featuring Phoebe Bridgers).

Also in the cast are Amber Benson ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Kiss the Bride"), Ian Foreman ("Ordinary Joe"), Michael Maronna ("Home Alone"), Conner O'Malley, Emma Portner ("Ghostbusters: Afterlife"), Danny Tamberelli ("The Mighty Ducks"), and the band King Woman.

Director Schoenbrun's feature film debut "We're All Going to the World's Fair," about an online horror role-playing game premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival. Schoenbrun also wrote the script for "I Saw the TV Glow."

Fruit Tree Production's Stone, McCary, and Ali Herting will produce through the banner, with Sarah Winshall from Smudge Films and Sam Intili.

What we think I Saw the TV Glow will be about

The logline for "I Saw the TV Glow" is a little bit bare bones, but it does sound like it has the makings for a great horror flick — there is something so disturbing about everyday objects like a television or a show you watch regularly turning on you. Here is the info on the film:

"The film follows two teenage outcasts (played by Justice Smith and Brigette Lundy-Paine) who bond over their shared love of a scary television show, but the boundary between TV and reality begins to blur after it is mysteriously canceled."

A24, who is set to finance the film and handle worldwide releasing, has also collaborated with Fruit Tree Productions on Jesse Eisenberg's directorial debut "When You Finish Saving the World," starring Julianne Moore and Finn Wolfhard, as well as the TV adaptation of Stacy Willingham's "A Flicker in the Dark," and the upcoming Showtime series "The Curse" starring Stone, Benny Safdie ("Uncut Gems"), and Nathan Fielder ("The Rehearsal").
