"Abbott Elementary" premiered on December 7 on ABC. However, this was just a special premiere episode, with other episodes set to follow on the network beginning Tuesday, January 4. For those who prefer streaming as an option, the episodes should be made available on Hulu the following day.

What Is Abbott Elementary?

This is a brand new workplace comedy making its way to network TV, courtesy of the folks at ABC. It focuses on a group of teachers who have to overcome odds in the Philadelphia public school system to help their students succeed. It hails from Warner Bros. Television and 20th Television.

Quinta Brunson ("A Black Lady Sketch Show") serves as writer and creator of the show, in addition to her role as executive producer. Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker are also on board to executive producer alongside Brunson. Brunson penned the pilot episode, which was directed by Randall Einhorn ("The Office").

The series cast is led by Quinta Brunson ("Big Mouth") as Janine Teagues. The ensemble also includes Tyler James Williams ("Let It Shine") as Gregory Eddie, Janelle James ("Central Park") as Ava Coleman, Chris Perfetti ("Looking: The Movie") as Jacob Hill, Lisa Ann Walter ("The Parent Trap") as Melissa Schemmenti, and Sheryl Lee Ralph ("Instant Mom") as Barbara Howard. William Stanford Davis ("Perry Mason") will also recur as the school's janitor, Mr. Johnson.
