The Best TV Shows & Movies Coming To Amazon Prime Video In November 2021

When the spooky season is over, it'll be time to start giving thanks as we lead up to yet another Thanksgiving. It's a toss-up whether you'll be happy to see your family when they roll around for turkey dinner or you'll want to disappear into your happy place far away from the loud kids and political stand-offs. Either way, you'll need some good new movies to keep you (and everyone else) occupied for a little while, if only to stop all the bickering. That's why we've got a list of all the TV shows and movies coming to Amazon Prime Video in November 2021, including a handful of our favorites.

Children of Men

"Children of Men" is not just one of the best sci-fi films of the decade, but one of the best films period. Director  Alfonso Cuarón shot the hell out of this movie, delivering some of the most impressive, breath-taking single-take sequences that we've ever seen. They're the kind of shots that make you stare in amazement and wonder just how they hell they pulled them off. Aside from that, the film contains a compelling story that finds the world's population dwindling as women suddenly stopped having babies 18 years ago. The world is in chaos, but hope blossoms when Theo (Clive Owen) is tasked with protecting a young woman who is somehow pregnant and trying to make her way to a secretive scientific group dedicated to curing humanity's infertility. The film is thrilling, thought-provoking, and is much more than your average sci-fi thriller. (Coming November 1)

Crazy, Stupid, Love

Steve Carell, Julianne Moore, Ryan Gosling, and Emma Stone give touching, wonderful, and hilarious performances in this exploration of romance, both floundering and flourishing. This romantic comedy comes with some very entertaining twists and turns, even if they're a little bit unbelievable at times. Gosling puts on the charm full blast as he tries to guide Carell back towards being the kind of man who can get any woman he wants, even though the only woman he wants is his estranged wife (Moore). Meanwhile, Gosling is also the ladies man who finds himself smitten with a girl (Stone) who doesn't seem wooed by his masculine shenanigans. This movie is irresistibly charming, a little odd, and full of some fantastically fun performances, including supporting turns by Marisa Tomei and Kevin Bacon. (Coming November 1)

Jingle All the Way

Listen, they're not all going to be praiseworthy movies that represent the best of cinema. But when November rolls around, it'll be time to dig back into the holiday favorites, and "Jingle All the Way" holds a stupid, special place in my heart. This movie is full of crass commercialism and capitalism, but it also has one of Arnold Schwarzenegger's funniest performances ever. Where else can you hear this beefcake spout things like, "Who said you could eat my cookies?" or "This is my doll!" while quarreling with Sinbad? This movie is endlessly slapstick, painfully silly, and just a lot of fun, and that's all before the totally improbably finale where a parade turns into and episode of "Power Rangers." It's turbo time! (Coming November 1)

Who Framed Roger Rabbit

It would be truly impossible to make this movie today, which is just one small part of what makes it so special. Bringing together the world of Disney's "Mickey Mouse" and WB's "Looney Tunes," this movie imagines a world in which cartoons exist in the real world and work as Hollywood performers for our entertainment. Roger Rabbit is somewhere in between as a cartoon character who suddenly finds himself framed for murder, and the one person he turns to is a down-on-his-luck, alcoholic detective (Bob Hoskins) who can't stand toons. Part film noir and part cartoon mayhem, the mix of animation and live-action is one of the most innovative and impressive productions of the 1980s, and it's worth watching with the adolescent kids in your family.
