'Thor: Ragnarok' Blu-Ray On The Way With Taika Waititi Commentary

The God of Thunder is ready to crash your place as Thor: Ragnarok arrives on Blu-ray and Digital HD very soon. The home video release of the hit Marvel sequel will come loaded with some excellent-sounding features, including a Taika Waititi commentary track that's sure to be a must-listen. More details on the Thor Ragnarok Blu-ray below.

Taika Waititi is so talented that he made the previously boring Thor franchise exciting with Thor: Ragnarok, and now Waititi's hit sequel is coming to Blu-ray and Digital HD. Thor: Ragnarok arrives digitally in HD, 4K Ultra HD, and Movies Anywhere on February 20, 2018, and 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on March 6, 2018 (Side Note: Can studios stop having such a big gap between digital and Blu-ray releases? I know they won't, but I just thought I'd ask).

Beyond the fun of watching the film again, you'll also be blessed with an entire smorgasbord of special features. Here they are:

Fans who bring home the Ultimate Cinematic Universe Edition (4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital) of "Thor: Ragnarok" will experience all the thunderous action and lightning-fast wit in stunning 4K Ultra HD with next-generation high dynamic range (HDR) visuals and Dolby Atmos immersive audio. Exclusive, never-before-seen bonus features include deleted scenes; hilarious outtakes; an exclusive short: part three of the mockumentary "Team Thor," retitled "Team Darryl" and featuring an eccentric new roommate; the evolution of MCU's heroes culminating in "Avengers: Infinity War;" numerous making-of featurettes which explore the unique vision of director Taika Waititi; the story's unstoppable women; the effortlessly charismatic Korg; the tyrannical leader of Sakaar, the Grandmaster; and the film's comic-book origins;  audio commentary by Waititi; and more.

The mockumentaries are going to be a big draw, ditto the feature devoted to "the effortlessly charismatic Korg," but the best of the bunch is going to be Waititi's commentary track. I'll confess that I'm usually not interested in Marvel movie commentary tracks, but this one is going to be a must-listen, simply because it's Waititi. Here's a breakdown of the features:

    • And here's the official Thor: Ragnarok synopsis, in case you forgot:

In Marvel Studios' "Thor: Ragnarok," Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his home world and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela (Cate Blanchett). But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) – and grapple with his silver-tongued adopted brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston), the fierce warrior Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and the eccentric Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum).

The only real drawback of this release is the truly hideous box art for the Blu-ray. Take a look:

DTL5mgwVQAIXsUrThor: Ragnarok is one of the most visually impressive MCU films in quite some time, and that's the art they decided to go with? Yikes. Marvel, get it together, mate.

Last but not least, there's a brand new trailer to announce the impending release and a 4-minute sneak-peek! What a bounty of riches this news story is, folks!
