VOTD: Moving Pictures 2016 Kicks Off This Year's Retrospection On Cinema
We're over a week into the final month of 2016, and that means it's time to start looking back at the year in cinema. While it might seem like a bummer of a year for a multitude of reasons, especially all those great talents we lost in entertainment this year, it's important to remember that there were some great movies that hit the big screen this year, and that's exactly what the first retrospective video for the films of 2016 does.
Moving Pictures 2016 assembles footage from dozens of films from the past year and puts them into a big montage. From the upcoming musical romance La La Land to the blockbuster battle of Batman v Superman to the indie comedy of Hunt for the Wilderpeople to the breathtaking sci-fi of Arrival to the underdog story of Eddie the Eagle, it's been quite a year.
Here's the 2016 movie trailer mash-up, titled Moving Pictures 2016, by Clark Zhu:
Honestly, while this is mostly a fine edit that remembers all the movies of the year, both good and bad, I can't help but notice that it's not quite as smooth as some of the better videos we usually see like this. Specifically, the sound mix could use some work and the transitions between songs and montages could be better handled. But still, it's a competently put together video, and it's just the first of several more that will be coming online in the next several weeks leading up to the end of the year. Stay tuned.
